Dear *|HTML:FNAME|*
Hope that you have time for a tour inside our workshop and in-situ onboard M/V Als Juno.

Our custom-made portable lathe prevented expensive withdraval of shaft

It was a great day walking into our workshop and filming the successful testing of a new custom-made portable lathe that was about to be sent to a shipyard in Turkey followed by some of our service engineers to carry out machining of a 55-ton heavy Ø785 mm x almost 15-meter-long tail shaft still installed inside the vessel M/V Als Juno.

The task was to remove scratches on this huge tail shaft
Our portable lathe is Ø800 x 2700 mm long and when on-site it was carefully moved to the engine room and installed on the tail shaft. We machined the aft journal with approximately 1mm on diameter until all scratches were removed and a clean surface was achieved.

The lathe as well as our service engineers did a great job saving valuable time for our customer.  We have a wide range of portable machining tools for all kinds of jobs and are ready to take off with short notice. Learn more

M/V Contramaestro Casado

We have completed another Simplex repair and this time it was a Simplex rudder stock from an “old” Spanish lady built in 1953. The rudder stock belonging to the Spanish navy vessel M/V Contramaestro Casado needed repair due to bad condition of bearing surface and body of the rudder stock due to corrosion. Our customer sent me this nice photo from location.

The rudder stock was sent to our workshop in Denmark and after inspection and measurement it was installed in our lathe where we machined the bearing area before welding up the area and re-machining back to original dimension.

After welding we carried out post weld heat treatment of the welded areas according to class rules. The rudder stock also needed straightening followed by final machining. DNVGL verified our repair.

Robot technology used to weld up damages on a wind turbine frame

Our laser cladding equipment has just been used for a repair of the nacelle of a wind turbine, where we welded up a crack in the base frame.

The 60-ton heavy wind turbine frame was transported to our workshop facilities in Hirtshals and took up a lot of space in one of our 3 workshops.
As for all our welding jobs the welding procedure was approved by Force Technology before starting the repair.  For this damage we used Inconel 625 powder to weld up this damage followed by a Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI test) to make sure the welding is 100% correct.

Using laser cladding you make sure the binding is 100% to the base material. Further the heat input compared to regular welding is only 1/10. This means that we can leave out the post heat treatment for stress release.

Next repair step is machining and reassembling, and the wind turbine is ready to go up into the air again.
Extending our steel stock
For many years we have had a large stock of class approved steel in stock – all with 3.2 Lloyds certificates enabling us to manufacture a new propeller shaft or rudder stock with very short delivery time.

We want to be among the best and fastest suppliers when a new shaft is needed.

This month a new steel bar arrived with a diameter of Ø600 x 18000 mm and the next to follow will be Ø1000 x 14000 mm.  We have material with different grades C45, 28Mn6, S355J2G3+N and with class approval stamp we can commence the manufacturing right away. Our stock list is available on our website. Learn more.
