The B.A. Rudolph Foundation champions the educational and professional development of women. Each spring, the Foundation accepts applications for scholarships to help offset expenses while furthering academic and career goals through a summer internship.

Scholarships are awarded to those women who best embody the mission and values of the Foundation. Strong applicants will have had previous roles in leadership positions and volunteer organizations. Applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives are strongly encouraged to apply.

Alumna Highlight:
Senator Tammy Duckworth

Senator Tammy Duckworth is an Iraq War Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and former Assistant Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. She was among the first Army women to fly combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
She earned a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the
George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, D.C.

Senator Duckworth served in the Reserve Forces for 23 years before retiring from military service in 2014 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016 after representing Illinois’s Eighth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives for two terms.

On May 21, 2017, Sen. Duckworth delivered the George Washington University's
commencement
address
before an audience of 25,000 graduates, friends, and family members on the National Mall. “I went to GW in part because of its outstanding record educating students in international relations, something that is as relevant and important today as it has ever been,” Sen. Duckworth said. “GW helped me build a foundation for everything I’ve done since graduating, whether in the military, at the Department of Veterans Affairs or—now—in the Senate.”

Member School Highlight

The University of St. Gallen’s International Affairs curriculum combines the research-based academic rigor of a Master of Arts with the interactive nature and practice-oriented approach present in leading International Affairs programs.

The program complements St. Gallen’s well-established business perspective with a finely tuned blend of components from Economics, Law, and Political Science.
Four disciplinary pillars thus come together. In fact, the school's overarching mission is to bring forth flexible generalists – graduates with the ability to tackle problems comprehensively and communicate across disciplines. These two capacities seem all the more relevant and precious today, in a time that is witnessing unparalleled degrees of specialization.

Electives, practical projects, and internships allow students to develop their own professional and academic profile. Fields of specialization include Foreign Policy and Security Studies; International Political Economy; Democratisation and Development; Public Management / Public Affairs; Energy and Resources; Regional Integration; and Public International Law / International Organisation.
