Rule changes for BHA 2019 Masters

On Friday 15th March, an amendment was announced by BHA re the new Goalkeepers rule for 2019 – originating from the Federation of International Hockey (FIH).
In raw terms, it means there no longer is any such thing as a "kicking fullback".
2.16 Goalkeepers
2.16.1  Teams are required to have a fully kitted goalkeeper for a match to proceed.
2.16.2  If for unforeseen circumstances a fully kitted goalkeeper is not present for the commencement of a fixture game; or is required to leave the field during a fixture by reason of injury or suspension; a team may either:
a. borrow a fully kitted goalkeeper from another club, provided that goalkeeper plays in the same or lower division or age group; or
b. if no other goalkeeper is available, play with only 11 field players until a new player is padded up.
2.16.3  Once a goalkeeper has arrived, a suspension has been served or a new player has been padded up, a team must substitute a field player for a fully kitted goalkeeper.
2.16.4  In Senior Competitions only, a team may elect to substitute a goalkeeper after the match has commenced for a field player as per FIH Rule 2.2.
The full BHA Rules (as a searchable PDF) are posted on the BHA Website here.

Pictured at the Season 2019 opening (and very warm) night at Redcliffe Hockey Field are Russell Marsden (Tech Bench) and Easts' player Rowan Green, watching the MHL3 game between Saints (0) v Kedron Wavell (4).
The caption (supplied by the photographer who shall remain anonymous) in the photo reads, "I reckon a cap's a good idea in this heat, Rowan". "Thanks Marso, I think so too!".
Other results on the night saw Norths d Bulimba 5-1; and Easts d UniQ 3-0.

Email addresses for Masters' Committee

As part of the (continuing) process of good, open and transparent governance by the Brisbane Masters' Sub-Committee, and to also enable easy transition of incoming/outgoing office bearers in future years, the Brisbane Masters is moving to "generic" email addresses (which will be hosted on the BHA mail server).
You are encouraged to send emails to these addresses for Masters' relevant communications.
TIP: Add them to your electronic address/contacts books.
This means to send an email to a Brisbane Masters' office bearer, the email address will remain "constant" over the years.
The "generic" email addresses are (with current office holder's name in brackets).

Thursday Arvo hockey changes

Change #1.
Late in May there will be a local school using a HALF field (up until September) from 4-4:30pm.
The plan at this stage is for the Masters Social Hockey to use a full field for 1 hour from 3-4pm and then revert to a half field from 4-4:30pm.
The half field could be set up as 2 x Quarter Fields if desired.
Change #2.
Attendance and Payment records will be kept from next Thursday due to non-compliance re some participants in paying their $8.00 levy each week.
This will mean a list of names will be ticked off and $$$'s collected each week.
Due to increased costs of field hire in 2019, if the number of players is less than 20, a Half Field will be used for the entire 90mins.
REMEMBER: Please bring a PLAIN white shirt and a PLAIN Black (or dark coloured) shirt each week.
