Second Sunday of Lent
He was transfigured before their eyes and his clothes became dazzlingly white.
- Luke 9:28-36 -
Listen to him.
It is wonderful to begin this week
acknowledging that we need God's help in listening and hearing.
It is so powerful to ask for the "gift of integrity"
to express our desire for wholeness.
And, we humbly ask for light in the midst of whatever
might "shadow our vision."
This is the God who allows Jesus
to be transfigured before his disciples,
to prepare them for what they were about to face.
This is our God, who can give each of us
the change of heart we ask for.
Let Us Pray:
Loving God, there is so much darkness in my life
and I hide from you.
Take my hand and lead me out of the shadows of my fear.
Help me to change my heart.
Bring me to your truth and help me to respond
to your generous love.
Let me recognize the fullness of your love
which will fill my life.
Free me from the darkness in my heart
- Amen -

Possible Saint John School Chapter of Boy Scouts
Saint John School was approached about sponsoring a local chapter of The Boy Scouts of America. The Scouts is open to any girl or boy in grades K-HS (girls have been able to participate in Scouts since 2017). This would be a major endeavor of the school and we would need to be sure that we would have a minimum of 10 students enrolled and a minimum of 6 parents to head the chapter. To survey initial interest, we would ask that you complete the following online form. The form would not obligate your child or yourself. Rather it would serve as a first step to help our school make a decision about moving forward. Please contact Mr. Plescia if you have any questions. Thank you.

Handbook Update
We have made the following update to our 2018-2019 Parent-Student Handbook. The following updated policy will take effect at the beginning of the 4th Quarter (Monday, March 25th):
A student is tardy when he/she arrives late to school or any class and is marked tardy by a classroom teacher or the school office. Persistent tardiness can lead to serious consequences, including Saturday School. Saint John School does not distinguish between EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED tardiness. Students who feel that their tardiness merits special consideration need to present their cases directly to the Principal or Assistant Principal. Because the school’s tardiness policy allows for four tardies before any disciplinary action occurs, such special circumstances will generally be moot.

Student Opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
As we journey through these Lenten days, our students will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday, March 20th (7-12 grade) and Wednesday, March 27th (3-6 grade). The importance and beauty of this Sacrament can never be overstated, especially during the Lenten season. We know with all of our prayers and encouragement, our students will grow in their relationship with God, and their personal journey to the glory of Easter will be spiritually enriching.
