You may have noticed some upgrades around campus. Thanks to our generous PTSA and Jeff Yeh, Deanne Moore, Katie David, Andrea Barker and Kristen Borland, who led this effort, we have new umbrellas and trash/recycle cans around Robinson making our school is even more beautiful. 3/18 - 3/22: Community Service Drive
Robinson is supporting at very special resource in our community, Safe Place for Youth (SPY). SPY provides support and care to homeless youth in our community through outreach, education, and health and wellness programing. Donations will be collected in a bin outside the front office. We ask that these items be any color besides red due to gang interaction. Please consider donating the following items:

Deodorant, travel size toothpaste, lip balm, wet wipes, combs/hairbrushes, bandaids, neosporin, hand sanitizer, nail Clippers, new socks, new men’s boxers/boxer briefs, new women’s underwear, notebooks, pens/pencils, and art supplies. Or you can click here to check out their Amazon Wish List.
3/20: Talent Show - Registration Extended Through Wednesday!

3/22: Meet the Masters Family Art Night @ 6pm - 8pm, Cafeteria
Come join us for a wonderful evening of paint-and-pizza. We will gather in the cafeteria to learn all about the colorful world of Andy Warhol and see how we can create some amazing POP-art together. This is a fun evening for the whole family and definitely a not-to-be-missed opportunity to enjoy and be creative together. Event Follow-Ups

Family Fun Run Was A Great Success!
Thank you to the all the families that participated and supported the Fun Run and great job to all the runners and walkers!  What a beautiful morning for a run!

Let's give a big Riptide Cheer to the organizers of the Family Fun Run.  Special thanks to Shana Kish and Stephanie Rogin and their dedicated committee, Andrea Barker, Mariana Enson, Tatiana Esteves, Tania Heise, Karalyn Honea, Kristy Jones, Mona Khurana, Jamie Paquin, Fernanda Peixoto, Susan Purdy, Caryn Saxena, Stephanie Schroeder, Jim Yi and Chelsea Zielin. It takes a village to organize this event and we will feature all the names of those who volunteered to make it possible next week.
Cyber Cop
This past Monday, we had the Cyber Cop, a law enforcement officer, come to deliver "Parenting in the Digital World."  The information was VERY well received.  He spoke about how to check if your child has a secret instagram account, setting up a contract with your kids and a phone, the severe consequences of social media, and more.  To sign up for his newsletter, CLICK HERE.  He also very clearly explains everything in his book, which can be found HERE

3/21: Teenage Vaping Town Hall - El Camino College
Want to find out strategies for what you can do to combat teenage vaping in your community? On March 21 from 3-5 pm at El Camino College, the Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics invites all parents to join them for a Town Hall on Addressing Teenage Vaping. 3/23: Suicide Prevention Walk - Torrance High School
Did you know there were 126 suicides in the South Bay in 2018? On Saturday morning March 23 at Torrance High School the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be holding a Suicide Prevention Walk. 3/24 or 3/25: MBEF Presents: Julie Lythcott-Haims and How to Raise an Adult
Get tickets now to see renowned author and parenting expert Julie Lythcott-Haims share her insights on how to allow children to develop the resourcefulness, resilience, and inner determination necessary for success.  MBEF will host two separate presentations on March 24th and March 25th, plus a meet & greet. Click here for more details.
3/26: Inaugural Mira Costa Community STEM Night, 6-8PM
Mira Costa faculty, students and guest organizations will host exciting interactive STEM activities, demos and talks on Tuesday, March 26th from 6-8pm! Bring the whole family to learn the educational importance and many life opportunities related to science, technology, engineering and math in our tech-tethered world.  Key areas of focus include medicine/biotechnology, media/entertainment, cybersecurity and engineering. Any additional parents/alumni/community members or companies interested in hosting a STEM booth/activity, please feel free to contact CostaSTEMnight@gmail.com.
3/26: MCHS Choir presents The Cathedral Concert, 7:30 PM, American Martyrs Church
The Mira Costa Choir Department presents its annual Cathedral Concert. Participating Mira Costa Choirs are Vocal Ensemble and Choral Union. Choir families, friends, and community members are all invited to attend this wonderful celebration of choral music. This concert is an annual fundraiser for the Mira Costa Choirs. Admission $25. 4/13: MCHS Choir Dept. Clothing and Shoe Drive, 9:30-11:30 AM, MCHS Parking Lot
The Mira Costa Choir Dept. will hold its annual spring collection drive, collecting gently used clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, belts, purses, bags, luggage, drapes, table linens, and stuffed animals (whew!). For a complete list of what we're collecting, please click HERE. If you'd like to contribute, please drop items off in the school parking lot on April 13th between 9:30-11:30 am (we'll have a truck there and volunteers to collect donations). All donations are greatly appreciated.
Summer is Just Around the Corner
When you’re making your summer plans, be sure to consider one of the many summer programs being offered by MBX/ MBUSD at Pennekmap, Robinson and MBMS. Returning from previous summers are Steve and Kate, Camp Galileo, reDiscover, Planet Bravo and TGA Tennis. And that’s not all! This summer you can take advantage of Camp Rad offered by two of MBMS’s favorite teachers (grades 4-7) , Pedalheads for the young bikeriders (especially incoming Kinders), LIFT Enrichment for those who enjoy culinary experiences, Book-A-Roos, a long time community favorite for fun academics, and Jr. Architects and Engineers for those of you who have enjoyed Camp Picasso, My Art Studio, and other super high quality creative art classes. Mini Mustang Summer Cheer Camp
Mira Costa cheerleaders welcome kids grades K-8 June 24-28 from 9 am – 2 pm. Participants will learn cheers, sidelines, dances, jumps, and cheerleading fundamentals! Click here for more information, or click here to sign up!

Camp RAD
Run by Mr. Trpin and Mr. Chao, current MBMS 6th grade teachers (formally elementary school teachers at Meadows)!  It is a camp in August provided for students to review/preview language arts and math before the beginning of the school year.  Arts, crafts, outside activities, and FUN are provided!
