This year so far we have held some fantastic events for our parent/carers and we are looking forward to more events in the autumn and winter.
SEND Information Day
This year we held our annual SEND information day at Newbury College, (happening again in February 2020). We had lots of different services attend and talk to the parent/carers about what they offer, and how they can help. The amazing Carly Jones was our guest speaker, and we also had smaller workshops around issues such as benefits, wills and behaviour.
Autism & ADHD in collaboration with CAMHs
Mairie Evans, Clinical Lead at CAMHs, came to a very well attended event, and spoke about dual diagnosis, and how they work together in an individual. There was a brilliant Q&A session which raised lots of interesting thoughts, It was incredibly interesting, and we all felt we learnt a lot more about both Autism and ADHD.
Wills Trusts & Deputyships
We held a Wills, Trusts and Deputyship event, where Stewart Stretton-Hall and Alice Cullingoworth from Irwin Mitchell came along and explained how and what Wills, Trusts and Deputyships are, and what you might need as a parent for your children. It was very well attended, and we had some fantastic feedback about how clearly the information was explained, and now the parent/carers felt they could make sound decisions for their children’s future.
Pamper Morning
Two weeks before the end of term we had lovely relaxing pamper morning with cream teas and lots of tea and coffee. With back and shoulder massages, nail polishes, eyebrow threading and lots of chatter we all had a great time, and each had a fabulous goodie bag to take home.
We have also attended many local services meetings, and been part of strategic meetings both with Health and the Local Authority.
Wonderful things are happening for SEN in West Berkshire, and we are proud to be part of the changes happening, but your voices and opinions count, so please do fill in the odd survey, and join us to enhance the future for our children.
