Principal's Message

Dear EGRMS Families,

This Saturday, March 23rd, is a great day to visit Grand Valley State University’s main Allendale campus to support East Grand Rapids students.  GVSU will play host to both the Science Olympiad Region 12 Tournament and a high school robotics competition.  Visiting a college campus is also a great family activity that naturally sparks conversations about the importance of learning and the value of education beyond high school.  Both events are free and specific locations and times can be accessed through the links above.

Reminders:
1. Volunteers for Day of Caring are still needed.  Please consider helping out on this important day of service.  Sign up via one of these links:

2. The Kids' Food Basket collection ends next Thursday.  Details below.

3. Please limit student deliveries to essential items only.  Deliveries of specialty beverages, such Starbucks and other sugary drinks, during the school day are discouraged.  While we recognize birthdays and other special occasions are worth celebrating, we ask they occur outside of the school day so as to reduce disruptions to teaching and learning.

Sincerely,
Anthony Morey

Schram's Shout Out

Dear EGRMS Families:

I am writing to let you know about the spring testing schedule.  Our 8th graders will be taking the PSAT test on Tuesday, April 9.  They will need to bring a scientific calculator and two #2 pencils with them.
For MStep testing, that begins on April 16 and runs through May 24, including make ups days.  The MStep schedule is as follows:

8th grade:  April 16-17 (social studies) and April 23 (science)
7th grade:  April 29-30 (ELA) and May 7-8 (math)
6th grade:  May 1 and 6 (math) and May 14-15 (ELA)

Anything you can do to avoid absences during testing will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a great week!
Shelly

Kids' Food Basket

Dear Parents,

This year, for our Martin Luther King Day, Jr. Day of Service, our students will be making Supper Packs to be distributed through Kids’ Food Basket, a local organization working to combat childhood hunger. Please find more information on Kids’ Food Basket here.  These Supper Packs will provide the children who are serviced through Kids’ Food Basket one meal for one day. We are planning a school-wide drive to collect the necessary ingredients for the Supper Packs, which will be assembled the week before spring break.

Our school-wide collection drive began Thursday, January 31 and ends Thursday, March 28.  All students will be collecting the following items in their BRIDGES classes. Our goal is 50 of each item, so that each Bridges class can assemble at least 50 Supper Packs. Please note items need to be individually pre-packaged.

Items Needed:
Pudding Cups
Fruit Strips
Pretzel or Cheez-It Bag (1.5 oz or smaller)
.28 oz Meat Sticks (two per Supper Pack)

Quart Size Bags
Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
East Grand Rapids Middle School Champions of Diversity Committee

All School Party

We are in need of 5-8 volunteers to chaperone the middle school party on Friday, March 22nd. The time commitment is from 3:00 - 5:15 pm. The party will be in the middle school gym and cafeteria. There will be snacks, games, music, a March madness Game Watch, and inflatables. If you are interested, please click here or contact Meredith Bonner at mbonner@egrps.org
Thank you so much for your support.

Thank You Rockford Construction!

A huge thank you to Rockford Construction, who generously donated their space for our Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Training experience!

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office.  Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”
