OACC SPOTLIGHT
FIRST WEDNESDAY AT MADISON PARK
Since November 2017, The Friends of Madison Park have been hosting the monthly Oakland Chinatown First Wednesdays to bring the community together for health, history, and honoring the still thriving Chinatown community. In the first month, there were no more than 40 community members there. Last month, the second annual Lunar New Year celebration event attracted over 180 elders, youth, children, and families.

We've helped in planning the event and providing a consistent and enriching station for community members of all ages to engage in visual arts, martial arts, culture, and history. Some highlights of the past year include a kung fu demonstration, tai chi workshop, and a stenciling art station. We invite you to join us in helping this event continue to grow every month.
