GOOD NEWS
Congratulations to everyone at Palmers Cross Primary School who were rated 'Good' in their recent Ofsted Inspection.
Awards for Wolverhampton Schools
Congratulations to two of our member schools, who this week scooped regional awards at the Primary PE and School Sport Premium Conference 2019.

St Andrew’s CE Primary School won the award for most improved school, which resulted from a complete overhaul of their PE curriculum and saw a brand new ethos of sport and physical activity across the whole school.

St Luke’s CE Primary won the award for Innovation. This recognised the positive use of School Sport Premium money to employ a Community Sport and Health Apprentice, and with the support of their mentor, the school have been able to drive and develop new programmes of work during the school day, after school, within the community and for the staff.

Well done to both schools! Keep up the great work!

Marathon Kids
This fun new project is ideal to get your children moving and monitoring their physical activity and challenging their personal best! Similar to the ‘Mile a Day’, the idea is that you challenge your young people to run a marathon, in bite size pieces, throughout the school year. This is a free tool and can be used to log and record achievement along the way.
For schools wanting to take this a step further, you can choose which marathon you would like to run, such as London or Paris, plotting the course with areas of interest along the way, and link it to other subjects and base a whole scheme of work around it.
The Mile a Day was fantastic at getting young people interested in running, but lacked an end goal. Marathon Kids is a fun and exciting way to reward their run, and help them see the progress they are making each day.
To get started, please use this link - https://www.kidsrunfree.co.uk/#
If you would like some free useful resources to support this programme then please email sam.fullwood@connectedpartnership.com

Connected Partnership, Maternity  Paternity & Adoption Leave Pooling Scheme – End of year closure of accounts notice

The closing date for those schools who submit their payroll claims for the financial year 18/19 ending on 31 March 2019 (i.e. relating to claims up to 31 March 2019) is Friday 26 April 2019.
Late submissions will not be accepted.

Please also ensure you notify the scheme of resignations. Employees receiving occupational maternity pay (twelve weeks at half pay) are required to repay this money if they decide not to return to work.  Credits reimbursed to the school for non-returning maternity employees will be repayable to the pool. It is the responsibility of the Head teacher to notify the pool accordingly.   In this situation the scheme will invoice the school to recover the amount reimbursed for the employee concerned. Please also ensure you notify the scheme of any payroll overpayment credits so that they can be refunded to the scheme. This can happen sometimes towards the end of the employee’s leave when your payroll provider makes the final SMP credit adjustments.

It is vital that schools notify their payroll provider as soon as possible of intended leave, resignation and return to work dates.  Therefore, salaries are adjusted in a timely manner and correct reimbursements can be processed from the scheme to schools.
