Last month, Senate President Spilka appointed me as
*Senate Chair of the Committee on Labor and Workforce Development and
*Senate Chair of the Committee on Elder Affairs, as well as
*Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Marijuana Policy.
I also serve on the Committees on Ways and Means, Revenue, and Community Development and Small Businesses. Staying busy!
My co-chair, Rep. Ruth Balser and I invited members of the Elder Affairs Committee to brunch. Here I am with Reps. Carmine Gentile, Tommy Vitolo and Kathleen LaNatra; Senate Vice-chair Becca Rausch, and Reps. Balser, Ciccolo, and Elugardo.
Rep. Paul Brodeur is co-chair of the Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. Wednesday, he and I met with former Senate chair Jason Lewis and Secretary of Labor Rosalin Acosta. Here Sen. Lewis bangs a gong in Sec. Acosta's office, recognizing his departure as chair. He's now chair of the Education Committee.
The Committee will hold its first hearing, on Unemployment Insurance, on Tuesday.
As chair of Elder Affairs, I serve on the Commissions on LGBT Aging, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, and PAWS II; and the Advisory Committee on Alzheimers Disease. This is the LGBT Aging Commission at last week's meeting.
