Revamped Flotilla online platform
—

Visit the newly relaunched Flotilla online platform—an interactive archive of pirate radio, curatorial texts, feature articles, and the Flotilla playbook (coming soon). Stay tuned throughout March to see new publications and reports roll out! Also, in an effort to continue the conversations that began at Flotilla, Brandon Hoax, Raven Davis, and Lee Lee Davis gathered a closed group of Indigenous artists and creators to discuss the question “What could an Indigenous-led artist-run centre look like in the Atlantic?” This meeting aimed to activate the spirit of Flotilla, to envision, imagine, and mobilize Indigenous futures. Stay tuned for the resulting report, which will launch on the Flotilla online platform later this month.

Visitez la nouvelle plateforme en ligne de Flottille - une archive interactive de radio pirate, de textes de commissaires, d’articles et autres recueils issus de Flottille. Restez à l’affût tout le mois de mars pour le dévoilement des publications et des rapports! Également, dans le but de poursuivre la conversation entamée lors de Flottille, Brandon Hoax, Raven Davis et Lee Lee Davis ont réuni un petit groupe d’artistes visuel-le-s et de créateurs-rices autochtones afin de s’interroger sur la présence et la nature d’un centre d’artiste autochtone dans la région de l’Atlantique. Cette rencontre avait pour but d’incarner l’esprit de Flottille et d’imaginer une vision autochtone pour l’avenir.

National survey on mobile technology needs

The Centre for Art Tapes (CFAT) is undertaking a multi-phase project supported through the Canada Council Digital Strategy Fund to develop a mobile application (or app for the smartphone crowd) that would facilitate the communication and outreach needs of artist-run and media art centres. The national scope of this project is made possible by the support and guidance of the Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA), and the Independent Media Art Alliance (IMAA). CFAT is partnering the Film and Video Arts Association of Alberta (FAVA) to build an app that will be a publicly-facing module of FAVA’s Arts Management System (AMS). This multi-year project is scheduled to launch in summer of 2021.

Sondage national sur les besoins en technologie mobile

Avec l’appui du Fonds Stratégie numérique du Conseil des arts du Canada, le Centre for Art Tapes (CFAT) entreprend actuellement un projet à phases multiples dans le but de développer une application mobile (ou app pour téléphones intelligents) qui répondrait aux besoins en communication et en promotion des centres d’artistes autogérés en arts visuels et médiatiques, ainsi que des institutions indépendantes à l’échelle nationale. Ce projet est rendu possible grâce au soutien de la Conférence des collectifs et des centres d’artistes autogérés (ARCA) ainsi que de l’Alliance des arts médiatiques indépendants (AAMI). CFAT, en partenariat avec Film and Video Arts Association of Alberta (FAVA), développera cette application en complément avec leur système de gestion des arts. Ce projet pluriannuel sera lancé à l’été 2021.

ATLANTIS: a new website!
—

The Association of Artist-Run Centres from the Atlantic (ATLANTIS) was incorporated in 2005 to support and promote the activities of artist-run centres in Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. A representative from the association is elected to sit on ARCA’s Board of Directors. In this way links are established with national arts advocacy groups to improve conditions for artist-run centres. Visit the new website to stay tuned!

ATLANTIS: un nouveau site Internet!

L’association atlantique des centres d’artistes autogérés (ATLANTIS), qui regroupe des centres d’artistes autogérés de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, de la Nouvelle-Écosse, du Nouveau-Brunswick et de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, fut constituée en 2005 pour soutenir et promouvoir les activités des centres d’artistes autogérés du Canada Atlantique. Un-e représentant-e de l’association est élu-e afin de siéger au conseil d’administration de l’ARCA. Ceci permet d’établir des liens avec les groupes de défenses des causes artistiques en vue d’améliorer les conditions des centres d’artistes autogérés. Visitez le nouveau site Internet pour rester à l’affût!
