Sandi's Corner

Dear Friends,

Lent has begun and last week we met Simon Peter!   This week we are going to meet John the Baptist. You can read about John Baptist beginning in Mark 1:9-15.
There are many outreach and mission opportunities in our newsletter. Please feel free to join us!

In peace,
Sandi

PS Each video will be shared in the next newsletter.
Join us as we continue to bless the children of Haiti with dresses and shorts. We will be gathering on Saturday, March 16th from 9:00am-3:00pm. We will have lunch together (bring your favorite dish or snack to share). See Deb Smith for details (315-536-0720).
In the two weeks since the Special General Conference has ended there has been a great deal of speculation and information circulating. There is an opportunity to gather with Bishop Webb on March 17th from 4:00-6:00pm at Cortland UMC. I plan on attending this live-streamed gathering and will be leaving at 2:00ish on the 17th. If you would like to ride with me please let me know (pastor@bluffpointumc.com or 315-719-7827).

You can find more information and hear from Bishop Webb. CLICK HERE
It is time to have some fun, food and get creative! Join me, Pastor Sandi, and my helpers on Monday March 18th (PYE and PYMS friends) and Tuesday, March 19th (PYE friends, sorry PYMS Friends you have a full day of school) from 12:00-3:30 at church. I have great times planned! Please let me know if your child will attend (pastor@bluffpointumc.com) as soon as possible.

Note from Dale Bliss

Dear Bluff Point Family,

Words are not sufficient to express my gratitude for all of the calls, visits, cards and prayers I have received since my accident and broken hip. When I am starting to feel down and sorry for myself all of your concern and care has shown through and became a bright spot in my days.

According to the surgeon, I broke the hip joint and needed a full replacement (the hardest and most painful). This has been completed and now I have to wait a total of six weeks before more than partial weight can be applied. I am waiting and counting the days until my sentence is reduced.

I haven’t been able to get a lot accomplished until now.  The pain killers make it hard to focus or even read. I hope the next three weeks will be better.

Thanks again for the encouraging calls, cards and prayers. It would have been very long and dreary without them.

Another opportunity to serve! We are hosting Grandma's Kitchen on Tuesday, March 19th. The  menu is your yummy macaroni and cheese, bread, carrot and celery sticks, chips and cookies. Sign up sheets will be available at worship and you can contact Babs at 585-781-0704 or revbabs1@gmail.com.
Many of you have asked for the address of Robin DeSantis in order to send her cards after the loss of her husband, Jim. Some of you will know Robin from when she joins us in worship to share her music ministry.

Do you have some time to build relationship with our kids? I am in need of cookers, project helpers, educators and fun loving people to spend some time with our kids when they have half days of school on March 18th and 19th from 12:00-4:00pm. Please see me or email (pastor@bluffpointumc.com) for details.

The next Lenten Lunch will March 21th from 12:00-1:00 at the First Baptist Church in Penn Yan. This one hour worship service is an opportunity to enjoy fellowship, food and the Word during this season. The cost of lunch is 7.00 and sitting is limited to the first 60 people.

A Blessing for Those Who Wait
by the Rev. Beth A. Richardson

For those who wait
In despair,
In grief,
In sorrow.
You are comfort.
You are strength.

For those who wait
In the paths of storms,
In detention camps,
In hospice rooms.
You are comfort.
You are strength.

For those who wait
In tender hope,
In tear-streaked sadness,
In fearful anticipation.
You are comfort.
You are strength.

Bless, Loving Healer,
All those who wait.
You are comfort.
You are strength.

-Amen
