Hello,

Are you a parent with a disability?  Or are you a child welfare worker or an attorney who has worked with parents with disabilities and their families? If you have been involved with or worked within the child welfare system (also known as the child protection services), we want to hear about your experiences.

The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University is conducting telephone interviews with parents with disabilities as well as child welfare professionals and attorneys who work with parents with disabilities (physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychiatric) to learn about their experiences with the child welfare system. Each interview will last approximately one hour. We will not share your name or information with anyone.

If you are a parent, to participate you must:
  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Identify as a parent with a disability; and
  • Have had involvement with the child welfare system within the past 5 years

If you are a child welfare worker or attorney, to participate you must:
  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Have a minimum of 2 years working in the child welfare system;
  • Have experience working with a minimum of 3 families that included parents with disabilities within the past 5 years; and
  • Be currently working within the child welfare system

To thank you for being interviewed, we will pay you a $15 gift card.

This study is funded by the Brandeis University Provost Office.

For more information or to schedule an interview, please email me at rpowell@brandeis.edu

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Robyn Powell, BSW, MA, JD
