Happy Thursday <<First Name>> – Every good marketer looks at their metrics — regardless of the size or scope of the campaign. In fact, each week before I write this email, I take a look at the performance of last week's email. You know what I learned this week? First, many of you care about that Oxford comma court case. Second, you care about obscure Danish words like pyt. However, you shouldn't just measure something as an FYI. You should measure it to enhance your content. I review last week's stats so I can make sure I'm doing more of the same. I also use it to inform the sequence of the list below. Let's see how well I've done this week. Without further ado, let’s take a look at what you may have missed over the past week.
YASS! A SOCIAL MEDIA CHEAT SHEET. We've all been there. Creating a quick image for a campaign on a social and we forget the image size. D'oh! Here's a handy updated cheat sheet from Constant Contact.
THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND MOVIE POSTERS. If you're like me, you like movies and design. These interests intersect with the art and science of movie poster design, explained here by James Verdesoto, former creative director at Miramax.
LESSONS FROM MISTER ROGERS. My friend and thoughtful marketer Scott Monty put together a list of four leadership lessons from Mister Rogers. If you like this, you should also check out the documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor?
THE MOST HEAVENLY BRAND ACTIVATION FROM SXSW. I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan. As such, I can't wait for the new Amazon Prime adaptation of his novel Good Omens. Beyond seeing Gaiman speak at SXSW this past week, I was further teased by Amazon's incredible, immerse Good Omens experience. Here's an overview from AdWeek.
LISTEN UP: CREATE TASTY CONTENT THAT SELLS. This week on the #OnBrandPodcast I was joined by marketer and burger connoisseur Rev Ciancio. He explains his qualifications on the latter during the show. Listen now.
