Justice & Mission Update: GET INVOLVED
Hi <<First Name>>,

We're deep into planning for this year's Palm Sunday Walk for Justice for Refugees and would love for you to join us!

We'll be sending around a pack of resources to promote the event to all of our partners to help get the word out - let us know if you'd like a copy, too!

We've also been watching with interest the inspiring students taking action for climate, alongside the "Grey Power Climate Protectors", who inspire and train older Australians to take action for climate - you can find out more about them here.

There's lots more coming up in March - make sure you check out the calendar below for an event happening near you!

For the sake of justice and peace,

Geoff  and Kate

PS we'd love to see you at our Faith in Action night tonight! Join us from 5.00pm at Star Street Uniting Church as we roll up our selves for a night of practical action. We need to build our movement of support for refugees and we need your help, particularly to promote the upcoming Palm Sunday Walk for Justice for Refugees 2019 Perth on April 14.
Take Action
Raise the Rate!

The Australian Unemployed Workers' Union is demanding an increase to the Newstart Allowance and related payments to the Henderson poverty line.

In a wealthy country like Australia, which has "enjoyed" almost three decades of continuous economic growth, nobody should have to starve on lowly social security entitlements.

We must fight for the right of unemployed workers to a liveable income.

We must demand our leaders immediately raise Newstart to the poverty line.

The Uniting Church Synod of Western Australia acknowledges the Wadjuk people of the Noongar nation, on whose land our Synod office stands. We acknowledge their elders past and present, and their people.

At its 7th Assembly the Uniting Church formally entered into a relationship of Covenant with its Indigenous members, recognising and repenting for the Church’s complicity in the injustices perpetrated on Australia’s Indigenous community, and pledging to move forward with a shared future. Congress’ generous response to this statement, among other messages, called upon the broader Church to take up the mission of reconciliation.

The ongoing and continually renewing nature of the Covenant calls the Uniting Church to continually act to remove the systems and structures of discrimination and oppression in Australia. The Uniting Church works for just, inclusive and equal relationships, recognising the place of First Peoples in Australia.
