Simple Lenten Meals
Lent is the season of praying, fasting, and giving alms. St. Matthew's Cathedral Social Justice Ministry hosts Simple Lenten Meals each Friday during Lent as a way to grow closer to God and to one another, and to help raise awareness for groups who work on a daily basis to build God's Kingdom.
Each Friday following the 5:30pm Mass and Stations of the Cross (ending at 6:30pm) we host a simple dinner of meatless soup, bread, and water. As a community, we pray and grow closer during this Holy season. We also host a charitable organization each week who helps to build God's Kingdom through practice of the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy on a local, national, and global level. A free will collection is taken up to help each organization continue their good works.
Please join us on the following Friday's at 6:30pm in the North Conference Room of the Cathedral (accessible via the parking garage) as we pray together and help to raise awareness and funds for the following groups:
March 8: Horton's Kids
March 15: Kairos Prison Ministry
March 22: L'Arche of Greater Washington
March 29: Community Resources DC
April 5: Catholic Legal Immigration Network
April 12: Jesuit Relief Services
