Salamun Alaykum

This month we launched Khoja News, a dedicated news website for the community. Khoja News has the latest news on business developments and community projects, as well as highlighting the achievements of Khoja institutions and individuals, and items of interest to our community. It's also easy to submit your family announcements. 

Our first ever Medical Retreat came to an end on 25th April. The participants all enjoyed their time learning about different topics related to prophetic medicine and understanding how they can use their newly found knowledge and adopt it into their everyday working life. I am sure many of you are in full preparation for the Holy month of Ramadan. This is a month to seek forgiveness, give thanks, reflect, give in charity, and aim to serve as good examples on how to embody taqwa. Khums Seminar
The World Federation in collaboration with The Council of European Jamaats will be holding a Khums seminar on Saturday 4th May at Hujjat Islamic Centre. Wood Lane, Stanmore, HA7 4LQ, England. The seminar will help answer some key questions about this important area of Islamic law.

Medical Retreat Highlights

35 participants registered for the first ever Nurses and Medical Practitioners Retreat in Najaf, Iraq. The participants thoroughly enjoyed this course which was specifically designed  for medical professionals in a spiritual setting. Read their blogs here.

The Holy Month of Sha'ban

As we approach the final days of Sha'ban lets take a moment to familiar ourselves with the last recommended acts we can perform this month.  As Sha’ban being placed in the middle of two other special months, namely Rajab and Ramadhan, it has an added significance as four most important personalities in Islam were born within it. Khoja News: Would you like to train in medical aesthetics?
A renowned plastic surgeon is offering free training for Khoja young women as a first step towards a lucrative career. Dr Mahmood Kara practices in Toronto and has more than 20 years’ experience.

Together with Lady Mary in Paris

Paris North Khoja Shia Ithna Ashari Jamaat held it's first ever interfaith event co-organised with a Christian organisation called EFESIA, on Saturday 6th April.  Its founder, Mr Gérard Testard, promotes Islamic-Christian friendship through meetings called “Together with Lady Mary” in Europe and Africa. Khoja Heritage Festival overview

The weekend of 6th and 7th April was marked by the Khoja Heritage Festival which took place at Al Zahra Centre in Watford. During those two days, Dr Hasnain Walji, chair of the Khoja Heritage Project and Raza-Aly Bhai Hiridjee, founder of Mulla Asghar Resource Centre in Toronto gave insights into our heritage.  Read more about the event here

Former President of Tanzania leads the World Autism Day Walk

The main aim of this walk was to increase awareness about people, especially children, with autism. The walk was an inspirational and impactful opportunity to raise awareness to help change the future for all those who struggle with autism. CoEJ: Young Girls Camp 2019

The Council of European Jamaats had yet another successful year of the Young Girls Camp that was attended by girls aged 8-10 years from across the different Jamaats in the UK. The fun-filled four days included team building games, art and craft activities, team sports, outdoor activities such as pedal racing, high ropes and zip wire.
