Ann S. Epstein's "Blood and Sand" will be published in BLUE MOON LITERARY & ART REVIEW (Volume 13, 2019). Set in the Capone era, “Blood and Sand” portrays a young girl’s confusion when she discovers that her adored, “Uncle Al,” is responsible for killing her best friend’s father, a death she might have prevented.
Another story, “A Fifth Way,” was accepted for publication in Spank the Carp (2019). Set in 1922 West Virginia, a precocious young boy begs adults to help avert a tragedy he sees coming, but only the crazy old lady next door believes he is telling the truth.
See Ann S. Epstein’s latest “Learn History Through Fiction” posts about the eras and places in ON THE SHORE, TAZIA AND GEMMA, and her other historical fiction. Read about how firemen were unable to open the exit doors in the tragic 1911 Triangle Waist Company fire; the havoc wreaked by a 5-minute hailstorm in Kansas 100 years ago; the exploitation of immigrant workers in the tuna canning industry a century ago; why 1954 Brown v. Topeka Board of Education is named after the sole male plaintiff; Al Capone’s Mafia advance man in Las Vegas 100 years ago; and other lesser known historical facts on Facebook and Twitter and read more fascinating details on her website BLOG and BEHIND THE STORY feature.
If you know of book clubs in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area that would enjoy reading her books and inviting her to talk with them, they can reach Ann via the CONTACT page on her website. She's also happy to Skype with book clubs located anywhere else.
