Order free plants for your yard, balcony, or window sill

Flowers and plants make our properties more welcoming and attractive. Gardening gets tenants out into the sun with their hands in the earth. It's a great conversation starter with neighbours, and it's satisfying to grow your own food. Each spring, CCOC volunteers and staff deliver thousands of flowering annuals, vegetables, and herb plants to tenants. On the day of deliveries, volunteers will buzz you or call you to pick up your plants. Please ensure you or someone you know is available to pick up your plants to ensure you get them.

Want to volunteer?  Contact Hannah at 613-234-4065, ext 240 or send her an email

Stand for election to become a Board member!

CCOC is run by volunteers – tenants and community members – who make up our Board of Directors and committees. Each year in May we elect new board members at CCOC’s Annual General Meeting. There are 14 seats on the Board and 7 seats are up for election each year. We are looking for people interested in standing for election on May 16 to join CCOC’s Board for a 2-year term.

The board is for everybody:

Governance can be intimidating, but we need your voice at the table! The board is a group of people who are deeply invested in CCOC’s work and in advocating for our neighbours. Our governing bodies thrive when everyone has an equal voice—tenants, community members, people who are Black, Indigenous, and people of colour, people with disabilities, and people with lived experience of homelessness or poverty.

Want to learn more about the board? Contact Hannah Vlaar, Tenant and Community Engagement Facilitator, at 613-234-4065, ext. 240 or hannah.vlaar@ccochousing.org

Hannah can give you more information about what it's really like to be a board member and set you up with the resources to make the process simple and fun!

The Board is the ultimate authority for all CCOC activities. Board members are responsible for the effective governance of the organization, consistent with our mission and values. The Board's responsibilities include establishing CCOC's vision and direction, overseeing operational and financial management, ensuring CCOC has good human resources, ensuring effective community relations, making and monitoring policy, and more.

Time commitment:
  • Board terms are for 2 years.
  • The Board meets once a month at CCOC's office. Meetings start at 7 pm and generally end by 10 pm.
  • Board members are expected to sit on at least one CCOC committee. These meetings are also monthly and start at 7 pm, generally ending by 9 pm.
  • You'll need to read the board package in preparation for the meeting. It can be quite long—over 75 pages.
  • CCOC has a fund to cover costs of the family care and transportation if needed. Just ask!
Deadlines and requirements:
