March Into Equity

with Court Morse, Equity & Inclusion Manager for Prosper Portland

So you care deeply about ending racial oppression, you have lots of feelings about it and may have even brought it up a time or two - dare I say, at work? Maybe you even have an equity committee or host events aimed towards creating more space for communities of color. Organizational culture change is hard and mysterious work, and then to ensure that your workplace dynamics are leading with the needs and experiences of people of color can be complicated, for all different races. This presentation will give you an overview of all the various types of culture change journeys you could go on, how to resource and prioritize this work, and some examples of the conversations that can really shift understanding of race and racism. With the changing demographics there is definitely a strategic advantage to these efforts, but what is most important is the moral obligation to be a part of the racial justice efforts that this world needs!

Court Morse is an equity practitioner who has worked in the Portland community for fifteen years through various roles from the non-profit and private sector. Currently, they serve as the Equity & Inclusion Manager at Prosper Portland.

In the new paradigm, we bring our full being with our dreams, wisdom and experience, knowing that we must channel our energies in ways that balance our needs with that of the organization. We’ll explore the meaning of workplace culture, best practices for dealing with negativity (ours and others!) and methods for getting out of our own way. Join us in an interactive process where we “go deep” about what it means to do good work, be at work, and experience stronger results, more meaning, and greater fulfillment. Limited scholarship assistance and carpooling may be available. Visit this link for more info, or contact Flip at flip.brown@icloud.com / 802 658-4111.
