Birding for Beginners | Introductory Course

We are excited to present “Birding for Beginners,” a three-day introductory course that teaches which kinds of birds you can spot in the Campbell River area, how to identify them, and where to find them.

Visiting different birdwatching spots around town, the course takes place over three Saturdays in April: the 6th, 13th, and 27th, from 9 – 11 AM. There is a fee of $60 [$50 for members], which covers all three sessions. The course will be taught by Ray Allan, who has hosted many of Greenways' birding walks in the past.

For more information and to register, contact the Greenways Land Trust. Participants should provide their own binoculars.

Project Update | Charstate Community Garden

After a short period of hibernation due to the frosty temps in February, the Charstate garden build is getting up and running again! The watering system is designed, the fencing is purchased, and the lumber is cut; all that is left to do now is to put it all together! Volunteer days will be scheduled regularly this spring to get the garden built in time for planting this year. Connect with Greenways (info@greenwaystrust.ca) if you would like to be on the waitlist for a garden plot, or if you have some time to help volunteer with construction.

Many thanks to our funders, the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, the Campbell River Community Foundation, and Campbell River Daybreak Rotary for their financial support; the City of Campbell River for donating the use of the land, as well as building a parking area and the water connection; and, the many community supporters that have made this project come together.
