This Saturday, St. Patrick’s will host the Nomadic Shelter, a program from Redwood Gospel Mission, to house homeless people.  We will cook and serve dinner and provide a place to sleep in Stevenson Hall for one night.
Redwood Gospel Mission provides supervision throughout the night and transportation to and from their Mission in downtown Santa Rosa. Our guests will have breakfast at the Mission.  The guests are at St. Patrick’s from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. There are handouts in Stevenson Hall and sign-up sheets.  We need volunteers for this ministry, before the actual day and on the 30th. Please contact Betsy Randolph for more information at rjurny@gmail.com or (707)981-2024.
The Vestry has endorsed offering the studio apartment in Stevenson Hall to Xavier, Anna Lucia, & Luciana for a temporary living space, as they await their work permits, and are able to move to a permanent home.

Work has begun to ready the residence. Painting is underway.  The carpet will be cleaned on Tuesday, and moving day is planned for Thursday, March 28.

Rich Randolph is leading the spruce up work, in coordination with Hutch Gibb, and Betsy Randolph is coordinating household goods.  Contact them if you'd like to volunteer time, or donate material or household goods.
We owe an enormous thank you to Margaret Merchat and Kate Aldrich for organizing this huge event! It was a sold-out event and a great success!
Many hands were involved in putting the dinner together with setting up, food preparation, making sure things ran smoothly during the event. There are many names to be listed but please know each of you who helped behind the scenes and during the party are truly wonderful and we are so grateful for each of you. The St. Patrick’s Dinner could not have happened without your help. Stevenson Hall was jammed packed, full of happy guests who had an amazing time! The music by Marshall Ward and his band was a delight to listen to throughout the evening. We look forward to the next St. Patty’s Dinner!
Over the last few years St. Patrick’s has developed robust ministries to welcome visitors and to engage parishioners in fellowship. In 2018 these ministries were integrated into a new ministry, Invite Welcome Connect, that brings more focus on evangelism, welcome and follow-up with visitors, and connecting them with parish life and ministries.  The ministry model was developed at the Diocese of Texas and has been implemented at many parishes in the United States.  Adoption of this ministry model was approved by Priest Doyle and the Vestry.

When we invite others to worship at St. Patrick’s, we are fulfilling what Jesus asked us to do, to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19  To help us develop our comfort with telling our faith stories to others, Priest Doyle preached about this and several adult education sessions were offered where participants were able to practice telling their faith stories. Business cards were developed and distributed to parishioners to give them an easy
tool for sharing worship information about St. Patrick’s. Several special worship services were held when members of the parish were especially encouraged to bring a guest.

When we welcome visitors to St. Patrick’s, we are welcoming the stranger, to “welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Romans 15:7 We were encouraged to invite visitors to the welcoming coffee hour after worship. A system was implemented to ensure that there are hosts for each of the coffee hours, to ensure a gracious reception with delicious snacks.  When visitors provided their contact information, follow up notes were sent to them, thanking them for worshiping with us. During the last six months, we have had a growing number of visitors to St. Patrick’s.

When we connect with newcomers, we are fulfilling what Paul wrote about in Romans 12, “For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually members one of another.  Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.” Several newcomer events were held, hosted by the Vestry. These events helped them become acquainted with other members of the parish, and to learn about the various ministries of the parish, which grow our faith through service to each other. A ministry fair was held where all members were re-acquainted with the ministry opportunities and invited to participate. A number of new members are active in various ministries, enriching our faith life together.
The Invite Welcome Connect ministry helps us to understand that we all have a part to play, to embrace and live-into what Jesus asked us to do as His followers--to share the good news, to welcome the stranger, and to use our unique gifts in service. With God’s blessing, the Invite Welcome Connect ministry is helping to build God’s kingdom at St. Patrick’s.

For more information contact any member of the ministry team--Miriam Casey, Bob Wohlsen, Hutch Gibb, Stephanie Chapralis McCaffrey.

From our Bishop-Elect
Dear Friends in Christ,

Our relationship together in Christ has begun, and I rejoice in it.

It is as if we are walking two parts of a converging road. We can recognize the same landmarks as we move forward, Shrove Tuesday with pancakes and fun, Ash Wednesday with repentance and ashes, and the long prayerful walk of Lent. Our paths will converge after Easter, starting in mid-May.

At that time I will start in the Diocesan office, and the following six weeks will be a time of intense learning. With Bishop Beisner sharing his wisdom and the skilled staff, I will become acquainted with the workings of the Diocese. All the while the preparation for the consecration will be ongoing - indeed it has already begun.

I look forward to joining our large Diocesan family, where I can hear your struggles and your joys - and you can hear some of mine as well! Our first two years together will be an intensive time of relationship building. We will discover how God is building us up in Christ together.

I am currently working hard to make sure that my current Bishop concludes his time with joy and that my new Bishop makes a strong beginning. Philip and I are working on our own steps of transition as well. At this time I cannot be responsive to you by email or phone calls. I want to be connected with you - but we have to let the transition process move through its various stages. For projects that really do need the input from the Bishop-Elect, Jacqi Seppi in the Bishop’s office will be the conduit, and she will forward urgent matters to me directly.

Meanwhile we both have good work to accomplish until our paths draw close in May and truly converge on June 29. Thank you for your warm welcome to me, and thanks for the good care you are taking of Bishop Beisner, his excellent staff, and each other.

“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,
rooted and built up in him and established in the faith,
just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” - Colossians 2:6

Faithfully in Christ,

The Rev. Canon Megan Traquair
Bishop-Elect
Diocese of Northern California
Do you have a guitar or banjo or ukulele or another stringed instrument?
Are you interested in becoming more proficient?  If so, we need your talents!  We are putting together a music group with FREE lessons, taught by John Waltz.

Our goal is to “grow our own” group to add joyful worship to our services and to help the congregation learn to sing with us, particularly at the earlier service.  We’ll be learning worship songs from a variety of sources.

Lessons will be every 2-3 weeks, with practices in between as schedules allow. Time & place to be determined, depending on the interest and where people live.

For more information, and to sign up please contact Kate Aldrich at kaldrich@sonic.net or call 539-9603.
