Me being me

I am an introvert and a people-person simultaneously. I don't love networking. I don't hate it, but I prefer to avoid it. Except I need it! I need it to find people who don't know about their inner Badass, to uncover places where I can add value, and to get terrific hair-curling recommendations from experts.

Last month I attended a networking event. I showed up late and left early. I stayed for as long as I felt comfortable, talked to people intently and with purpose. I started some conversations and ended others. This month I attended another one, marginally more excited and definitely more ready.

Here's why that matters: I know my limits at networking events, and I choose to embrace them. That means I don't stay as long as others, I don't talk to as many people, I stand in silence sometimes. But I do it all on my own terms.

Know and embrace your limits - they'll help you come back to being you - and keep you sane.
