Q: I've been using the modified pre-exhaustion method every other workout [from the Pre-Ex 3X e-book]. I'm not supersetting; I just do the isolation exercise first for a 4X sequence, then I do the compound [midrange] exercise after that with 4X. I just got your 4X Mass Workout 2.0. I really like the high-rep [TORQ] idea. What do you think about using that [30-20-15 3X sequence] on the isolation exercise for modified pre-ex?

A: We speak from experience when we say this iso-TORQ method produces a crazy pump—and you'll feel the target muscle on the big midrange move better than ever. This is one of our favorite super-growth stimulators. Get close to failure with 30 reps, rest 45 seconds, go to failure at 20; rest 45 seconds, go to failure for 15+ reps…

As we've said, most bodybuilders' muscles aren't used to pushing the target muscle into the UPPER hypertrophic tension time—60 to 90 seconds. So when you do it right off the bat with iso-TORQ (TORQ on an isolation move), like leg extensions, you get some serious new SIZE stimulation…

Then, after a brief rest, you do a 3X or 4X sequence on the midrange exercise, like squats or leg presses for quads. You can't help but get in touch with the muscle you're trying to blast because it will already be toasted and roasted…

No, you can't use as much weight on the compound exercise; however, the muscles don't know weight; they only know that they're trying to drive out the reps with EVERY available fiber they can activate. And that's what makes pre-exhaustion so effective, superset or no-superset version. (Note: Both versions are outlined in the Pre-Ex 3X e-book with complete workouts for each.)

With iso-TORQ and similar methods, you're giving your muscles something new to cope with, and that will induce a searing size-shocking effect.

Many pro bodybuilders use it, cranking out multiple sets of high-rep leg extensions before squats to minimize injury risk and maximize fiber recruitment.

Oh, and TORQ (tension overload repetition quantity) up front can also help you get leaner faster. That's because the bowels-of-hell burn triggers growth hormone to churn, and GH incinerates fat.

More muscle, less fat—how great is that?

Till next time, train hard—and smart—for BIG results.
