Shurniak Concerto Competition - Regina, February 23, 2019

Eleven musicians competed in the 2019 Shurniak Concerto Competition at the University of Regina, Riddell Centre Theatre. Jonathan Craig Penner (cello) was declared the winner, earning the $2000 prize and an opportunity to perform as soloist with the Regina and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestras in an upcoming season. Second place was awarded to Bradley Little (piano) and third place to Shion Tamashiro (violin). Visit our web page for the Press Release.

SMFA Fundraising Opportunities

Tickets are available until August 9, and the draw will take place at the Grand Awards Concert at Nationals on August 10. Tickets can be purchased from any of our 47 District Festival Associations, or by contacting the SMFA Provincial Office at 306-757-1722 or sask.music.festival@sasktel.net
In celebration of the 110th Anniversary of SMFA in 2019, we gratefully accept donations which enable us to continue to deliver our mission of promoting musical excellence in Saskatchewan. Please consider a donation of $110, or an amount of your choice. National Music Festival - Saskatoon, August 8-10

Please consider a trip to Saskatoon to enjoy hearing some of the competitions on Thursday and Friday, August 8^th and 9^th. The Master Classes on Saturday, August 10^th will also be open to the public. The highlight of the week will be the Grand Award Concert held Saturday evening, August 10^th at 7:30 PM in Convocation Hall. This is a special opportunity to hear Canada’s finest young musicians. District Festivals - March through May

46 District Festivals take place in communities across Saskatchewan in 2019. Best wishes to the participants, teachers, music directors, accompanists and adjudicators. Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors who support the festival movement every year.
