CAUCUS OR PRIMARY?
MAKE YOUR POSITION KNOWN!
This important message about our state delegate selection decision comes from our elected representatives David Griffiths and Claire Roney. Your opinion is important. Please read and make your choice known by clicking on the links below.
As you are no doubt aware, one of the key issues currently facing our party, at the local and state levels, is the question of whether to continue using:
Precinct Level Caucuses or a Primary Election...
as the first step in the process of allocating Washington state’s delegates to the Democratic National Convention in 2020.
You can read the two proposals, and some additional explanatory information, leave comments, and vote for the plan you prefer (not an official vote, more of an opinion poll) at https://waelectioncenter.com/. The public comment period closes April 4th.
To give you more information for your consideration, we have included with this e-newsletter graphics showing, as simply as possible, how the caucus and primary plans would work. These were sent out by the State Party Chair.
We are also including the full report from the Caucus Improvement Committee (CIC). The CIC is a formal sub-committee of the WSDCC Rules Committee with the task of assessing and recommending potential changes to the caucus process. The CIC’s proposal is currently under review by the State Party’s Rules and Affirmative Action Committees.
We hope all of this is useful to you, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts before we cast our official votes at the April 7th state meeting. Please send your comments to info@jeffcodemocrats.com.
Sincerely,
David Griffiths
