Filled with His Joy and Peace...

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Howdy! It has been a few months since our last news report. As most of you know, we have been living in Texas for the last 4 months  in response to our little medical crisis was had last year with Melanoma. We apologize for not having communicated much later, but I promise, this newsletter should bring you all great joy!

Cancer Free!
In our last news report in January, we mentioned that the doctors had just removed 6 lymph nodes from David’s leg in order to determine of the cancer had spread to other parts of his body. We know that many of you have been praying for this and we are proud to let you know that God has done yet miracle in our lives as David is officially diagnosed as cancer free! Though his recovery from the operation was a bit slower than anticipated, he is doing great now and able to move around and resume his normal work schedule as if the operation never happened.

We Are Going Home!
The great news of David’s health led us into a season of fasting and praying about our ministry and a potential time table for your return to Guatemala. When we first arrived in Texas last November, we had considered the idea of moving “temporarily permanently” to Houston so that Juli could pursue residency and citizenship in the United States. This has been a dream for us for many years now and we were thinking that now would be a good time to make that happen. However, after taking the time to fast and pray, we felt that our time in Guatemala was not completed yet and that we still had a mission to fulfill there. We felt God begin to restore vision that we had for this nation and began to get a strong sense that our return will mark the beginning of something new in our ministry. We are still praying about what this means, but what we do know is that we are returning to continue on in the work God has given us there!

An Incredible Ticket Price
In regards to timing, we also felt in our time of prayer that we were to take a few months for a Sabbatical rest. We have been serving together in missions for over 15 years and realized that in those 15 years, we have never taken a time to intentionally rest from ministry. As we prayed, we felt God speak to us about the end of July, which would normally be peak season for flying to Guatemala. A few weeks ago David noticed that tickets prices took a significant jump in price starting in June and so with that, we began considering sending at least Juli and the kids back to Guatemala in May so that we could save some money. However, God has other plans and as we prayed about this, we were reminded of the late July word. David checked airlines tickets for the end of July / beginning of August and to our surprise, there was a window where ticket prices took a significant nose dive. In fact, we noticed that on July 29, that the tickets were actually $67/person! Yes, you read that right! Adding in a few fees and we were able to get all 5 of us plane tickets for $380 total! Only God can make something like that happen, especially during the peak season for travel to Guatemala. In no doubt, when He gives a timing, He will make a way that might appear impossible to suddenly become a wide open path to travel.

Explosive Faith Blog
In closing, one of the things that God began to put on David’s heart was taking his teachings that he uses throughout Central America and turn them into a weekly blog. As many of you know, he has become very passionate about seeing the local church “Inspired, Equipped, and Sent.” This passion has continued to grow during our stay in the Texas, so as of early March, we officially were able to re-brand our website from “DJ Ministries” and changed it to Explosive Faith Ministries. Some of you have already received some of his blog entries and our prayer is that they will not only inspire you, but challenge you in your walk with Jesus! If you would like to follow his blog, please visit our website.
