CHUMASH
Parshas Shemini - Rishon with Rashi
|
|
During the whole Shivas Yemei Hamiluim, Moshe Rabbeinu brought the korbanos. But Hashem didn’t show the Yidden that His Shechinah was resting in the Mishkan! The Yidden felt very embarrassed that they worked so hard to build the Mishkan so that Hashem would forgive them for the Cheit Ha’eigel, but the Shechinah did not yet come down.
Moshe Rabbeinu told the Yidden that the Shechinah would rest in the Mishkan when Aharon Hakohen started doing his avodah!
So on the eighth day of preparing the Mishkan (Shemini Lamiluim), Aharon brought some korbanos for the first time on the Mizbeiach! Moshe had prepared the Mishkan, but now it was time for Aharon and his sons to be the kohanim.

Every single kapitel in today’s Tehillim has a special niggun which was made in honor of the Rebbe’s Yom Huledes! Can you find the niggun in each one?
In Kapitel Pey-Daled, the posuk says “Yeilchu Mechayil El Choyil, Yeiro’eh El Elokim BeTzion.” This means that people who trust in Hashem go from strength to strength, and they go before Hashem in Yerushalayim.
The Rebbe tells us that Yeilchu Meichayil El Choyil, when we are always doing better than before, brings Yeiro’eh El Elokim Betzion, that we will be able to go to the Beis Hamikdosh! When we keep trying to do better, every single day and every single hour, we will bring Moshiach!
Chassidus says that there is a new chayus from Hashem that comes into the world, not just every day, but every hour! When that chayus comes, we get more opportunities to grow in Yiddishkeit! We need to make sure to use that new energy to do more!

We learned that by Yidden doing mitzvos, we are making Moshiach happen!
1) We use the chayus from the Gashmius to help us do mitzvos.
2) We hold ourselves back from doing aveiros, and take away the Ruach Hatumah, and we do mitzvos to bring Elokus in the world.
3) All of the Yidden work together to do this, and the whole world becomes ready for the Geulah!
So you see that Moshiach coming, where Hashem will be revealed in the world and there will be no more tumah, is DEPENDENT on Yidden together doing mitzvos in the time of Golus! (Which is what the Alter Rebbe began this perek with!)

There are two ways to write the word “Kol” (everything) — sometimes it is with a komatz, and other times it is with a cholam. In this Hayom Yom the Rebbe shows us to be careful that we say it with the right Nekudah!
In today’s Tehillim, in the posuk “Kol Maayonai Boch” (in the kapitel that starts “Livnei Korach”) we say it with a Komatz. But when we say this paragraph in bentching, we should say the word “Koil” with a Cholam!

Today's mitzvah (Mitzvas Asei #108) is about Mei Nidah — the water that is mixed with the ashes of the Parah Adumah. There are some kinds of things that it makes tamei, and other things that it makes tahor! (For example, it makes someone who gets sprinkled with it, tahor; but the person who sprinkles it becomes tomei!) The mitzvah is to follow all of these halachos.
At the end of this mitzvah, the Rambam tells us the source of all of the mitzvos of Tumah and Tahara in the Torah (Parshas Shemini, Tazria, Metzora, and Chukas) and where they are explained in Mishnayos (Seder Taharos), and which mesechtos explain which mitzvos.

In today’s Rambam, we learn halachos of the Mei Nidah:
Perek Ches: We learn about BRINGING water to mix with ashes of the Parah Adumah. We are not allowed to make a hefsek, to do something else along the way, or while carrying the water. We ARE allowed to do things we need to do in order to bring the water, like making a path to walk on. If someone does another thing before he mixes the water with the ashes, the water is posul and can’t be used.
Perek Tes: In this perek we learn about MIXING the water with the ashes — we learn how do do it, and things that can make it posul.
Perek Yud: The Rambam teaches us about USING the water of the Parah Adumah — how we can bring it to another place, how we sprinkle it, and who is allowed to sprinkle it.
We learn that one person can sprinkle even on hundreds of people, and as long as they each get at least a drop of water sprinkled on them, they are all tahor!

In this perek, we learn the Halachos of how we eat the Korban Pesach in a group.

Now that it’s after Purim, we need to start thinking about preparing for Pesach! The halacha is that we start to learn the halachos about the Yom Tov starting from 30 days before.
One of the first mivtzoyim which the Rebbe started was to make sure that the Yidden we know about should have Shmurah Matzah for the Pesach sedarim. Now is a good time to make sure we know who we need to bring Shmurah Matzah to!

There are some Chassidim who say that davening with avodah isn’t so important nowadays. They say that the Rebbe didn’t write many letters about davening, and the Rebbe spoke about mivtzoyim at farbrengens, and not about Tefillah! That proves that it isn’t something we need to do nowadays, because otherwise the Rebbe would have talked about it more!
The Rebbe says that this is a foolish thought! If you look at the Igros of the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe Rashab, and learn their sichos, you will see that they already wrote about it and farbrenged about it many times! So where is the excuse not to daven properly?

Before Pesach, it is very important to give Maos Chitim, tzedakah to poor people so they will have enough money to buy what they need for Pesach. Of course, it is best to give it early enough so they will have plenty of time to cook it and get it ready!
Here are some ideas for your Maos Chitim: - Colel Chabad (Eretz Yisroel) - http://colelchabad.org - Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov (Crown Heights) - http://www.cssy.org - The Shluchim Fund (Shluchim worldwide) - http://theshluchimfund.com - Adopt a Family (Anash and Shluchim in Eretz Yisroel) - http://charityforisrael.com
The Rebbe says that together with giving plenty of money for Maos Chitim, we should also give Ruchnius “Maos Chitim” by teaching people how to keep Pesach properly! (From a sicha, 26 Adar 5751)

At the end of Mesechta Sotah, the Gemara speaks about the signs that Moshiach is almost here. Most of these simanim don’t sound very good! They are signs like young people being chutzpadik, things being very expensive, and not honest leaders.
But Chassidus explains that really all of these things have good in them!
One of the simanim is that young people will embarrass older people (“Ne’arim Pnei Zekeinim Yalbinu”), which is a kind of chutzpah.
The Alter Rebbe explains that really this is a very good thing!
One of the differences between older people and younger people is how strong their Yetzer Haras are. The Yetzer Hara is very strong in younger people. They get much more excited about Gashmius things, and they need to have a lot of Iskafya to keep themselves from doing the wrong things!
But the Yetzer Hara doesn’t get so excited anymore once a person is much older. It doesn’t take as much koach for an older person to say no to Gashmius things.
When we get closer to the times of Moshiach, the younger people will have a lot of hatzlacha in winning over their Yetzer Hara! The older people will see how hard the younger people are working, and how they are doing so well even though their Yetzer Haras are so strong! This will make them feel embarrassed that they aren’t doing so well, even though their Yetzer Haras don’t get so excited anymore. So this siman has something very good in it, and it will make the older people also want to work harder in their Avodas Hashem!
