CBW News and Prayer Letter • Spring 2019
Welcome to the first Prayer Letter of 2019. We are pleased to share with you some of our recent good news stories for praise, along with a difficult situation to bring before the Lord.

Project news

In the December Prayer Letter, we brought you news about some of the projects that we hoped to see progress in 2019. Over the Christmas period we received significant donations, and we give thanks to the Lord that the generosity of His people has enabled the projects we described to move forward. These gifts will pay for translation and publishing that will place solid Christian teaching in the hands of those who yearn to know more of our Lord.

We have also seen our stock of books grow following some significant donations, including from the European Mission FellowshipGrace and 10ofThose. The big empty space in the middle of our depot in Cricklade (near Swindon) is now gone, filled by another rack of books ready for sorting and dispatch!

Our Cricklade depot in November.
We now have a lot less space to move around!

If you are interested in getting involved, either in the Guildford or Swindon, we would always welcome volunteers to help sort and pack the books ready for dispatch. Contact Thys Storm (Swindon) or Mike Taylor (Guildford) to find out more.

Floods in Southern Africa
Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia

There have been distressing images on the News in recent days from Southern Africa as the region tries to recover from the terrible flooding brought by Cyclone Idai. We have received the following news from one of our regular contacts, Joster Jumbe, who lives and works in the area.

We have experienced heavy floods this year. We are fine in Zomba, but most of the centres where we train leaders have been greatly affected to the extent that many of the people there have no shelter and food. Their properties were washed away by the floods.

We went to Malawi to make an assessment, but it was very pathetic. I have also been receiving reports from Mozambique that our training centres there have been badly affected as well.

We are currently asking several organizations to assist them with food and seeds for winter cropping in case they may have nothing to eat for the whole year. The government and other organizations are trying their best, but there's a need for a joint effort to help them.

I'm now in Zambia distributing books and training pastors. I hope to go back to Malawi tomorrow morning.

Books arrive in Sierra Leone

Last year we sent a lot of books to a small group of churches in Sierra Leone. After a long delay at the dockside, the container containing the books eventually reached its destination. Here are some pictures showing the excitement that the receipt of the books brought.

Recent letters of thanks

What can I say! How do I express my gratitude! I just want to say a very big thank you, to you and your excellent team, for this great job of sacrifice. You have truly delighted my heart.

My earnest prayer is that the Lord will keep delighting you. May you see the lasting result of this your labour and ever remain glad. I got the package sent to me on Tuesday this afternoon from the post office. They are indeed wonderful materials for edification and spiritual growth. Keep flourishing in grace as the Lord is our sufficiency always.

I sincerely love and appreciate you all.

Great greetings of Grace to you, and all the Christian Books Worldwide staff. I write to very sincerely thank you for the books received last week. I always receive them with a new level of joy as these are rare, precious tools for the expansion of God's kingdom.

I managed to distribute six copies of Prosperity? when l went to do a mini PTI-type training course in a place called Chozi in a remote area of Mbala District, because they came to Kasama and saw the book in my study.

The other thing l have done is open a lending schedule for other books for distant Pastors and Christians for one week and two respectively, after which they come for another, and its working very well. Before they take the book l let them cover it to avoid dirt and wear and tear.

I finished reading The Reformation, Walking with God, Aspects of Holiness and am reading Christ in Exodus. l keep getting fatter and fatter with God's knowledge and - as a test - when l teach, people are appreciating God's glory!!

People are asking for extra copies of study Bibles as l have given all of them except for the one I am using. I wish one day you could be here to see how people appreciate the materials you graciously send to us!

Give our love to everyone that has taken a hand in enabling us dispense the Great Gospel of our soon-coming King, even the Lord Jesus Christ.

Kasama, Zambia

News from The Philippines

A report on building work by Jay Nombre, a Pastor we have supported in The Philippines.

We send you greetings from all of us at Bethany Reformed Church and in the glorious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks from Myanmar

I am so happy to inform you the books you sent us arrived safely. Thank you so much for such precious books! I believe our students will be altogether blessed by them. Later I will write a feedback as well.

Know how much we appreciate you and are grateful to you for you assistance. May the Lord bless you.
