<<First Name>>,

Over the past four weeks I have had many opportunities to raise Kanata-Carleton issues and profile our community with my colleagues at Queen’s Park. 1) Last Friday, the Premier was in Kanata-Carleton to tour a local high tech company and meet with the Kanata North Business Association. 2) I released the Kanata-Carleton’s High Tech and Business Initiative. 3) An Ottawa delegation led by the Mayor came to Queen’s Park. In this newsletter, I have provided information on each of these important meetings as well as background about some of my other activities around Kanata-Carleton.

As you will see from the photos below, I make a point of regularly meeting with residents, groups and businesses. Contact me if you have a special event you would like me to attend, or a particular issue to discuss. I would be very pleased to connect on matters concerning you.

If there is a provincial government issue I can help with, please contact my staff at the Community Office. Do you need help with your driver’s licence, Ontario photo card, health card, birth certificate, name changes, or marriage certificate? Would someone you know like to receive a birthday, milestone anniversary, or congratulatory certificate? Contact my office.

Lastly, if you know anyone who would like to receive this monthly newsletter that typically communicates community information and my activities around Kanata-Carleton, please have them connect and sign up by clicking this on-line form.

Spring is around the corner and I do hope you will enjoy the sighting of your first robin and daffodils. Let’s stay in touch,

Ontario’s Premier visited the high tech sector of Kanata North on March 22, touring technology company Renaissance Repair and Supply. The Premier was also briefed by Kanata North Business Association (KNBA) on the contributions of our local high tech sector. Click here to read more on the Premier’s visit.
Thank you to all at Renaissance Repair and Supply who made the tour so informative. We are fortunate that Kanata is home to so many innovative technology companies.

Below, the Premier is seen with the KNBA Director of Operations, who provided the Premier with an excellent overview of the economic significance of our local high tech business community.
Serious Tech Lives Here in Kanata North. Read the “High Tech and Business Initiative” document, which identifies four pillars of sustainability and growth to advance the interests of high tech and business in Kanata and West Carleton. Here is the media release: MPP Releases Local High Tech and Business Initiative
In late February I was pleased to welcome an Ottawa delegation to Queen’s Park, which included local City Councillor Jenna Sudds and members of the KNBA. Here Mayor Jim Watson and I have an exchange in a meeting reviewing the priorities of Ottawa.
It was a pleasure to participate in an International Woman’s Day round table organized by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. I was joined by a number of my colleagues, including MPP Caroline Mulroney and MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy.
THE REALLY BIG NEWS this month came from West Carleton…. Congratulations to the West Carleton Warriors who won the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup and its $100,000 grand prize – announced on a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast. The team’s prize money is going to the West Carleton Disaster Relief organization to help towards tornado cleanup and recovery.
West Carleton also has a new local newspaper – congratulations to all involved with the new publication. I was pleased to pick up the first edition of the West Carleton Community Voice at the Heart and Soul Café. I was at the café to meet with the Dunrobin Community Association and to visit with a few local residents.
Here I am meeting with constituents to discuss the vision and goals of the West Carleton Snowmobile Trails Association which is looking at new, safe passages linking Kanata to West Carleton trails.
Here are 3 photos of my travels in Kanata-Carleton, meeting with the people and local small businesses that make our community so special. Above - visiting businesses on the main street of Carp. Below - dropping into the Oui8 Bakery on Hazeldean Road. The third photo is with owners of the Luna Crepes and Cafe on March Road, where I enjoyed a delicious meal.
Contact my office staff if you wish to arrange a meeting at my Community Office - or to have me visit your place of business.
I was pleased to accompany local Ottawa MPPs and Ontario’s Environment Minister to tour Algonquin College. The Minister was in Ottawa to discuss the Provincial Government’s Ontario Environment Plan, designed to reduce emissions without imposing a carbon tax.
I was also with the Ontario Environment Minister when he met with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. We discuss the Authority’s work in protecting the health of the local watershed and the people who live in it.
It is an honour to be your MPP and to be able to serve my community of Kanata-Carleton. Please let me know how I might assist if you have a provincial matter of concern. Also, I will arrange for congratulatory certificates for milestone birthdays and anniversaries, new business openings, and other celebratory events. My contact information is below - and it is also found on my website - MerrileeFullerton.ca.
