SB5116 Supporting Washington's Clean Energy Economy, is scheduled for executive session in the House Finance Committee on March 26 at 8:00am.
Very important request to make a phone call to call Senator Van de Wege about HB 1110 - CLEAN FUELS BILL. Let our Senator know that this must be passed! Please send the email OR call his office!

1. Speaker for the large Huddle Indivisible meeting on April 9th will be Becci Kimball who is working with a group called Transportation Lab.
2.There will be a Climate Change Town Hall on April 13th from 10:30-12:30 at the Cotton Building 607 Water St. Port Townsend to encourage lcals to get involved with what we can do LOCALLY TO MAKE SURE THE 2008 JEFFERSON COUNTY CLIMATE CHANGE ACTIONS ARE DONE.
3. Earth Day is Monday, April 22nd. The Envivonmental Teams recommends signing up for beach clean up at: coastsavers.org
4. Please try to attend and share information about the Global Earth Repair Conference, May 3rd to the 5th at Fort Worden Conference Center in Port Townsend. For more information: earthrepair.friendsofthetrees.net

Wondering what you can do to help address climate change? Join the Drawdown Ecochallenge!
Sign up now to participate in the internationally recognized Drawdown Ecochallenge, which runs from April 3-24! The Drawdown EcoChallenge is a fun and social way to learn about and take measurable action on the most substantive solutions to climate change. It provides an interactive online platform for individuals to obtain researched and effective ways to reduce our collective carbon footprint, select a few actions they would like to take (it could be just one!), track and share their progress progress online in a robust platform and earn points for taking action! These solutions are outlined in the book Drawdown by Paul Hawkins, which focuses on proven actions that are backed by science and within the grasp of our communities. Actions include not only personal behavior options, but also broader policy and community opportunities. Participants can join an existing team or create a new one. And it is free and open to all.
Join our team or make your own - then see how your team compares with others in Jefferson County! We currently have a Local 20/20 team (which all are welcome to join) and a Port Townsend Marine Science Center team, and QUUF Green Sanctuary is forming one. And we encourage other Jefferson County organizations to create their own!

Raging Warriors for Healthcare
March 7th meeting notes
We selected topics, talking points, and contacts for the Sunday, Mar. 3rd writers at Pippa’s. and produced 125 cards to legislators mostly on health care topics
We decided to write to our state legislators on
HP1523 (SB5526) relating to the increasing availability of quality affordable health coverage in the individual market. Tharinger is a sponsor at the request of Gov. Inslee.
HB1697 extends apple health coverage to all children residing in WA regardless of place of birth.
HB 1877 provides a pathway to establish a universal healthcare system for the residents of WA state. (SB5822). Tharinger, Chapman, and Van De Wege are sponsors.
SB 5222 creates the WHOLE WASHINGTON HEALTH TRUST, establishing a board of trustees who will decide the essential benefits package. Plan to start collecting premiums and assessment payments by Oct. 1 2020 and offering coverage Nov. 1, 2021.
We decided it was too late to plan a lobbying day on health care, but will plan earlier for the next session.
Title X executive order will leave thousands of Washingtonians without Family Planning and reproductive health care testing and treatment. We are planning to raise funds necessary to keep the Jefferson Health Dept.’s Family Planning programs in schools and clinics fully funded.
The federal measure introduced by Pramila Jayapal which would establish a single payer program for the nation published their final language. Rep. Adam Smith co-sponsored. We urged our group to contact WA state representatives encouraging them to join their WA colleagues.
SANE program (training for nurses providing rape kits) is moving ahead. Dr. Molly Parker will report on Jefferson’s progress at the May 16 Rotary meeting. The meeting is at noon at the Tri-Area Community Center. Lunch is available.

Our areas of focus: healthcare costs and access to reproductive health, and public health-related issues linked to sexual assaults, intimate partner violence, and gun-related violence. We seek allies and partners across the political spectrum to improve all aspects of healthcare through large and small, state and national, legislative actions.
Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates (JCIRA)
Please tell Representative Kilmer to support the Defund Hate campaign. What is the Defund Hate Campaign? The Defund Hate Campaign is a coalition of immigrant rights and progressive organizations that have been working for two years to get Congress to reduce funding for ICE and CBP, the two agencies most responsible for tearing apart immigrant families. Co-chaired by two of our closest partners, Detention Watch Network (DWN) and United We Dream (UWD), the coalition seeks to divest from immigration detention and enforcement, and invest in programs that we actually need, like health care and education.
