CEO Summit | 'Flipping the Switch' on Gender Equity | 7 March

Many CEOs who have already embraced gender equity as a strategic priority accept their role in the transformation of their workplace culture. In leading the transformation, they are sharing their stories, role-modelling new cultural norms, values and behaviours, building committed teams at the top and rolling up their sleeves to make real impact.
Increasingly however the push for greater gender balance from the top places significant pressure on managers in the middle. Not only are middle managers juggling operational priorities they are being asked to ‘sell-in’ gender equity to their teams as a strategic priority. How do they do this if they have yet to ‘buy’ the ‘it’s good for business’ message

Recently CEOs for Gender Equity and Entry to the C-Suite partnered with The Experience Lab in response to an emerging them from discussions with CEOs and their teams in human resources, communication and diversity and inclusion. That is, is the recognition that building gender balanced teams and workplaces forms part of a broader leadership development opportunity for middle managers who need support in delivering on their CEO's gender equity ambitions. This CEO Summit was presented with more than one twist.

Firstly we invited The Experience Lab, a talented group of actors, to present "Flipping the Switch", playing out two separate realities:

(i) A CEO presenting her ambitious gender equity aspirations ... to attract more men to her organisation
(ii) Contrasted by middle managers 'delivering' on the strategy and highlighting some of the 'authentic' challenges the women faced in recruiting more men

Secondly, we invited the panel with Edgar Basto, Mary Walker and Graham Kerr to reflect and comment on the two realities that "Flipping the Switch" presented.

Finally, we had opened up the CEO Summit encouraging our CEOs to attend with a member of their ELT. We also invited non-members in partnership with Entry to the C-suite, (Tower Consulting).

"Flipping the Switch" is a collaboration with The Experience Lab and Entry to the C-suite  that you can also use within your workplace with your middle managers. To learn more, please contact jacob@theexperiencelab.com.au or 0412 662 285.
