RISD Digital Image Collection | ARTSTOR
 
View the RISD Visual Resources Institutional Collection and Public Collections on Artstor to satisfy a wide range of academic, teaching, and public research needs. STUDENTS: Create private image groups for research and study. FACULTY: Curate image groups and slide shows for class presentations. Don't see what you need? The VMRC offers digitization services for images for teaching. Submit requests via email to vmrc@risd.edu.

The existing Digital Image Collection produced by the RISD Fleet Library is comprised of more than 25,000 images ranging from works scanned for teaching and research from library-owned art and architecture books to the locally pertinent such as RISD Buildings and Open Spaces. The copyright-unrestricted Public Collections are freely accessible on the open Web. Access to the RISD Visual Resources Institutional Collection requires a valid Artstor account authenticated by a current university email address. La Vie Parisienne | 
RISD PICTURE COLLECTION

La Vie Parisienne (The Parisian Life) was a French weekly magazine founded in Paris in 1863 and was published without interruption until 1970, soon evolving into a mildly risqué erotic publication at the turn of the century. The RISD Picture Collection owns over 200 covers and interior illustrated plates primarily from the World War I era, published 1914-1920.  Prints are non-circulating. They are on view in RISD’s Artstor Public Collections or on Digital Commons@RISD.

The artwork of La Vie Parisienne reflected the stylization of Art Nouveau and Art Deco illustration, mirroring the aesthetic of the age as well as the values, and this coupled with the intellectualism, wit, and satire of its written contributions was a combination that proved irresistible to the French public.

RESOURCES
 The Art and Architecture Streaming Video Collection from Films on  Demand consists of over 1,400 titles and includes documentaries, interviews, biographies, and how-to videos.  As well as architecture, it also includes sculpture, painting, photography, history, theory, and art criticism. Unlike other streaming subscriptions, RISD Library users have access to ALL the films in the collection. These films are available for in-class streaming.
