CSSE 2019: Seeking Conference Volunteers 

The Faculty of Education at UBC is proud to host the Annual Conference of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) from June 1 to 5, 2019. We expect over 1200 delegates from across Canada to attend this bilingual conference, which is held in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Volunteering for CSSE comes with some great benefits. Applications are now being accepted through our online portal.

First round application deadline: April 12, 2019.
Final application deadline: May 4, 2019.

Dr. Bruno Zumbo Receives the School of Nursing Centenary Medal of Distinction

Please join the Faculty of Education in congratulating Dr. Zumbo on receiving the School of Nursing Centenary Medal of Distinction. These awards were established in celebration of the School’s one hundred years of university-based nursing education. The School is recognizing one hundred individuals who have brought high honour to the School or to the profession of nursing, or have significantly advanced the School’s vision, mission and mandate.

New School of Kinesiology Installation of "Study What Moves You" Banner

In March, the School of Kinesiology mounted a new banner outside War Memorial Gymnasium, on the south-west corner of the building. The banner, which features Scarlett Sparrow-Felix, a young athlete from the Musqueam community, celebrates the heritage of the School of Kinesiology and the Department of Athletics and Recreation.

Congratulations to Dr. Leyton Schnellert on receiving an SSHRC Partnership Development Grant

Please join the Faculty of Education in congratulating Dr. Leyton Schnellert, Associate Professor, EDCP, and his team on being awarded a $195,075 SSHRC Partnership Development Grant. The grant will support their partnered research project Growing Innovation in Rural Sites of Learning.

UBC Education Library Space

Are you interested in using library resources with your students during class time? Flexible instructional space is available for reservation in the Education Library. The room can accommodate small classes of up to 20 students and is equipped with a projector and 3 computers. Get in touch with Wendy Traas or Emily Fornwald if you would like to reserve the space.

A renowned Indigenous scholar and a noted Prince George businessperson will receive honorary degrees during this year's University of Northern British Columbia convocation.

Dr. Jo-ann Archibald and John Brink will be presented with Doctor of Laws degrees on May 31.
