SUMMARY: Something hunts people on the outskirts of town… Sam and Lielet are two new friends living in Ethiopia. They’re dealing with the kind of problems that all kids have: judgmental social cliques, condescending adults, alienation… and a legendary brain-eating monster straight out of folklore. Sure, it’s not going to be easy, but all they have to do is live through it. Showcasing a quietly unsettling plot and building tension similar to NICK DRNASO’s Sabrina and ADRIAN TOMINE’s Killing and Dying, debut creative team NICHOLAS AFLLEJE and SARAH DeLAINE construct a poignant story of otherness and mystery.
"I didn't grow up reading comics. I didn't discover comics really until I was eighteen, but then I fell so hard for comics... I just didn't realize that comics could be for me. I thought it was more of a strictly male power fantasy, and I have nothing against that, but I just didn't think that someone like me could make comics for people like me and like other people, too... My inspirations were people like Beatrix Potter and the big worlds that people like Moebius would make... I'm always interested in making it feel like a big, real, lived in world."–Sarah DeLaine

SUMMARY: IMAGE COMICS'S SUPERNATURAL SPECTACULAR! Rori Lane is trying to start a new life when she reunites with her mother in Japan, but ancient creatures lurking in the shadows of Tokyo sense something hidden deep within her, threatening everything she holds dear. Can Rori unlock the secrets of her power before it's too late? JIM ZUB (SKULLKICKERS, Samurai Jack) and STEVE CUMMINGS (Legends of the Dark Knight, Deadshot) team-up to create an all-new Image supernatural spectacle that combines the camaraderie and emotion of Buffy with the action and mystery of Hellboy. "If Wayward isn't the next Saga, it will be a damn criminal shame."–Bleeding Cool.
“Story always came first. I didn't want the lore or historical facts to overwhelm the character beats or emotional stuff we were building. Thankfully, the more research I'd do on a subject or the more material Steven [Cummings] and Zack [Davisson] sent my way, the more character stuff flowed naturally from it. Using "real" myth and real locations was a challenge, but it also forced me to try different things and go places with the story I wouldn't have done if we didn't have that as the foundation. It was a lot of work, but I'm really proud of how it came together to make something unexpected for our team and our readers..”–Jim Zub

TIME FRAME: 1-2 Hours - Standalone or Repeating
SUMMARY: Continuing our miniseries of food-related programs, this month's theme is a series of cooking classes and food sampling sessions for your culture-hungry patrons! So, if you have access to a commercial kitchen or a comparable setup for a hands-on recipe workshop, it's time to break out your cookbooks and introduce amateur and expert chefs alike to the absolute joys of preparing and eating Ethiopian cuisine!

LIBRARY SPOTLIGHT
In this edition of the Library Spotlight, we're gearing up for Free Comic Book Day by looking back at Elkhart Public Library's 2018 Free Comic Book Day celebrations! We can't wait for 2019 and we look forward to supporting their efforts with creator visits and donations.
"We celebrated our fourth Free Comic Book Day with fun, education and art at the Elkhart Public Library in Elkhart, Indiana. People of all ages had the opportunity to pick up a free comic book, meet and learn from our guest creators and participated in our other entertaining activities. Our leaders of the 'League of Heroes' were thrilled to be a part of this creative team. We thank each and every person who believes in comics and those who make these great events happen. We also appreciate the contributions that Image Comics had in this event by the great items they donated to be giveaways. It was another successful year for Free Comic Book Day."
Send us your events for a chance to be featured in future editions!
