Hello everyone!
It is a stunningly beautiful day in the mountains today- wherever you may be, I pray it is a great day for you as well.
A shorter thought today. First, I've attached below a link to the supplemental podcast I did connected to Sunday's message. Put together, these are an in-depth look at the very practical truth of God's Will. If you weren't in town for church, I encourage you to give them a listen. Romans 12:2 is one of the New Testaments most quoted passages regarding the concept of God's will in our lives, and as we saw Sunday, the full truth of this statement is often missed, rich in meaning, and again, intensely practical for our daily life. The supplemental podcast is about 25 minutes long, and covers the four points I skipped in my message. I ended this supplemental with a thought on how we seek God's specific will and guidance when faced with big decisions and choices. This was shared with me by one of my great faith mentors, and it may be a blessing to you.
This coming Sunday we will move on to verses three through eight of Romans chapter 12, as Paul begins to describe what God's will- the outworking of our lives surrendered to Him- looks like in the context of relationships. His first point is how God's Grace will look different in each of us as it is expressed through the unique ways God has created and shaped each of us. Right out of the box Paul declares that we need to consider, with a clear mind, how God has shaped us, and how we all (believers) have in common the essential reality that we are created to be an interdependent blessing to each other. How God calls you to be a giver of his Grace is different from how that will look in me, and we all are necessary to experience the fullness of this gift called the Body of Christ. Thinking back to verse two, if we ask "what will God's will look like in my life", well, an essential part of the answer is right here.
Take a few minutes this week to read Romans 12:3-8, and I look forward to seeing you Sunday if you are in town. Wherever you may be, may your week be blessed with all the presence of Christ, as we test and approve God's will in our lives!
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 34:8
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober (sound/clear) judgment
Romans 12:3
On the journey with you,
Pastor Ethan
