I If you have not visited The Museum of the Bible in Washington DC,  you really need to visit as soon as you can. In a nutshell, it is an extraordinary gift to our country that everyone should visit.

Click here to visit the museum’s website...from Elvis’ Bible to artifacts from Israel, there is so much incredible evidence of God and his promises through a specific people and place but available for all of mankind.

I was able to visit last Spring while at the AIPAC conference and ended up going twice during that week and still didn’t get to see everything. From the physical shape of the museum evoking Noah’s Ark in a modern setting to the massive size with 6 floors of exhibits, collections, theatres, meeting spaces, 2 restaurants and more, it is truly an amazing architectural gem. And with incredible interactive exhibits, it's a wonderful place for children to experience.

One of the exhibits that was especially touching was the simulated fly-over experience revealing places in our government buildings where bible verses are etched into walls and columns of key places where lawmakers govern and rule from. The fingerprints of God over our country and Israel are undeniable.

Then came the food and you know me, if has to do with food and Israel, I am first in line. So it was no different on my visit to the museum’s restaurant scene. I chose to try Manna Cafe where the dishes on the menu are clever and delightfully named after the bible. What does “The Gospel” taste like?  What about “Revelation”? Yikes!

Of course, I chose the dish, “A Taste of Israel” and could not put my fork down!

While there, I interviewed Executive Chef Todd Gray to learn more about his latest project, Manna Cafe housed in the museum. Chef Todd and his wife Ellen, also own DC’s famous Equinox restaurant.

I am in love with his new cookbook, The New Jewish Table Cookbook!

About the cookbook: “The New Jewish Table explores the melding of two different cooking cultures, seasonal American and Eastern-European Jewish, sharing the mouth-watering recipes that result from this flavorful union from authors, chef Todd Gray and his wife Ellen Kassoff Gray. More than a love story about what one can do with fresh ingredients, Todd and Ellen talk about the food they grew up with, their life together, and how rewarding the sharing of two people's traditions―and meals―can be. When Chef Todd married his wife, Ellen, who is Jewish, their union brought about his initiation into the world of Jewish cooking. In 1999, Todd combined his love for farm-to-table ingredients with his passion for Jewish cuisine, opening the acclaimed Equinox Restaurant in Washington, D.C.

With more than 125 recipes including reinterpretations of traditional Jewish favorites made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, from Yukon Gold and Sweet Potato Latkes, Ellen's Falafel with Pickled Vegetables and Minted Lemon Yogurt, and Roasted Heirloom Beets with Capers and Pistachios, to Matzo-Stuffed Cornish Game Hens, Fig and Port Wine Blintzes, and Chocolate Hazelnut Rugelach, there are recipes for every occasion that the entire family will enjoy.”

Here’s the link to his cookbook on Amazon. I hope you order it and enjoy it as much as I have.

There is so much more to the incredible Museum of the Bible than the glimpse I’ve shared with you in this small space of time. Ultimately, none of it would be possible if it weren’t for Israel where everything started and ultimately will culminate as the capital city of eternity.

Let me know if you’ve been to the museum or if you plan to visit!

In the meantime, please pray for Israel as they are just coming out of Purim and this week is off to a very busy start!

  1. Syria has threatened a war if America recognizes the Golan Heights as under Israeli sovereignty.
  2. Today, March 25, 2019, President Trump officially recognizes the Golan Heights as under Israeli sovereignty.
  3. Rockets from Hamas in Gaza continue to rain down on Israeli towns where Jews have 8 seconds to grab kids and run to the closest bomb shelter.
  4. The IDF has officially started defending themselves from the constant rocket attacks coming from Gaza.
  5. The Israeli elections are heating up with a special witch hunt full of lies and evil decrees to take out Bibi Netanyahu on false claims of “special favors” in exchange for champagne and cigars.
  6. Honduras and Romania announced they are moving their embassies to Jerusalem.

And remember, the Purim miracle could only happen if there was an evil decree put in place to force the Jewish people to act and defend themselves, ultimately gaining the victory. See the pattern?

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May those who love you, prosper.” Psalm 122:6
