Prudential: Rate Change On PruLife UL Protector! Some Cells Increasing & Decreasing!
"On Monday, March 18th, Prudential released new rates for their PruLife Universal Protector product. On Tuesday, March 19th, rates were made available on the LifeTrends website.  An overview analysis is forthcoming.

Transition Rules
March 18, 2019 (Ready to Sell Date): New Rates for the repriced product are in effect. All applications signed and dated1 on or after March 18, 2019 will receive New Rates (unless Old Rates are requested and permitted).
  • April 14, 2019 (Transition Period End Date): Last day that an application can be signed with a request for Old Rates
    • If Old Rates are desired for an application dated during the 28-day Transition Period, a written request, along with the appropriate presentation version, must be submitted on or after the state introduction date
    • Applications dated April 15th and later will receive the New Rates only
  • States that approve the revised product after March 18, 2019 will have their “Ready to Sell Date”, adjusted.

From Principal: Term Rate Change Effective 4/1 - MUST Request New Rate For Application Submitted Before 4/1!
"Effective April 1st, you can offer clients even lower Principal Term rates for many ages and risk classes.

Please Note: Online quoting engine will reflect the most current rates. You must request the new rates in order for Principal to acknowledge and issue the new rates!

 April 1, 2019
  • All Term applications received in the home office (in approved states) on this date or after will automatically receive the new Term – April 2019 rates.
  • We’ll accept requests for the Term – October 2018 rates until April 29, 2019. Simply note this request on a cover letter/transmittal.
  • Online quoting engines will reflect the new rates.
Cases pending on April 1, 2019
  • Applications in underwriting will be issued with the Term – October 2018 rates as originally applied for, unless the new Term – April 2019 rates are specifically requested!
  • If the new Term – April 2019 rates are desired, no new application or quotation is required. Notify your home office contact of the requested change.
Policies still within the examination period (COD, Offer or Shortage)
  • If the policy was delivered via eDelivery and the new Term rates (April 2019) are desired, the Field Office contact will reject the policy with old rates and indicate that the new rates are desired in the Rejection Comments box. The policy will then be reissued via eDelivery.
  • If the policy was mailed from Principal and the new Term rates (April 2019) are desired, simply indicate “Term rates – April 2019” with the delivery requirements and submit the correct premium amount. New data pages will then be mailed to the customer.
Backdating
  • Backdating is allowed to save age. Normal backdating rules apply.
State approvals
  • All states have approved the new Principal Term rates for April 2019."
