Weil Commits $15M To Name UA Center For Integrative Medicine

A $15 million gift from Dr. Andrew Weil will both name the UA's Center for Integrative Medicine as well as establish two endowed chairs and an endowed fund for the program. The inaugural holder of the Andrew Weil Endowed Chair for Research in Integrative Medicine is Dr. Esther Sternberg, BIO5 member and Director of Research for the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine since 2012.

A new implantable "teabag" could help children with Type 1 Diabetes. BIO5 member Dr. Klearchos Papas, Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Medical Imaging at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson, and his team have engineered an innovative new biomedical device that could deliver all the benefits of a transplant to resolve diabetes without drawbacks of anti-rejection drugs.

New Collaboration Aims To Prevent Life-Threatening Adverse Reactions To Medications

The Flinn Foundation awarded the Division of Clinical Data Analytics and Decision Support (CDADS) at the UA College of Medicine - Phoenix $1.5 million to incorporate pharmacogenomics and clinical decision support into clinician training and medical practice.
