April 6th, Zakuska
"Hello!  We are Zakuska. We are a local group that plays and sings traditional Balkan dance tunes from many countries/regions such as:  Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Albania, Turkey, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Hungary.   Our focus is on vocal music with instrumental accompaniments.  Members include Jana Rickel, Sue Niemann, Jan Tominaga, Krista Canterbury and Fred Graves.   We play traditional instruments, as well as some that are more modern, including:  gadulka, kaval, tambura, bugaria, dumbek, tupan, clarinet, accordion, zils, violin and electric bass.  One of our passions is to keep Balkan music alive in Seattle - we love to play and sing these great tunes.  Please come and dance to our lively music."

May 11th, Balkanarama (a 2nd Saturday)

Squalicum Yacht Club, 2633 S. Squalicum Harbor Loop Road, Bellingham.  
Music and dancing will begin at 7:30 and end at 10:30 PM.  
A donation of $15 is requested, and finger-food snack items are welcomed.  

How to get there:

Directions from the North:  Go South on I-5, take the Meridian Street Exit and turn right onto Meridian.
From Meridian, take the third right (second traffic light) onto Squalicum Way.
Follow Squalicum Way and it will eventually merge into Roeder Street.
Shortly thereafter, take a right at the sign for Squalicum Harbor and Coho Way, at the City Mac Store.
Take the very first possible right turn which is identified with a street sign "N. Harbor Loop Drive."
At the end of that very short road, you will be in a parking lot.  If you turn left, you will see the Squalicum Yacht Club in front of you,  It is a small building.

Directions from the South:  Take Holly Street through town to "F" Street.
Turn Left onto "F" Street tward the water and across the train tracks to Roeder.
Turn right onto Roeder Ave.
Continue on Roeder to Coho Way (City Mac Store)
Turn left onto Coho Way.

As usual we will have a 6 pm potluck to start the evening with dancing to begin about 7:15.

$12 Donation to help pay for the bands and hall rental.

All dances are at the Bay View Civic Hall where we dance every Tuesday!
