Secure funding for your floriculture research project by applying before the June 1st deadline.
AFE’s Research Committee is pleased to announce a new research funding process and a revised application for 2019. The new application process allows for a single application form to be used. For many years, AFE’s process required researchers to submit a pre-proposal application. Then, if preliminarily selected by the committee and industry members, it required a more detailed full proposal.
“We realized the time constraints on researchers, and in an effort to help streamline their requests for research funding, we developed the new process”, says AFE Research Coordinator Dr. Terril Nell.
The primary research funding priorities are relevant to all segments of the floral industry:
- Botrytis Control and Management
- Thrips Control and Management
- Postharvest Technology
- Production Technology
- Advanced Breeding Technology, including CRISPR
- Long-Term Storage and Shipping Conditions for Cut Flowers
- Automation and Technology Leading to Labor Savings
Watch the video from AFE Research Coordinator Terril Nell, Ph.D., discussing the research priorities and their importance to the industry.
Research projects can last from one to three years and any reasonable but justifiable budget will be considered.
For the current 2018-2019 cycle, the Endowment is funding more than $325,000 in research.
AFE's currently-funded research is available online, as well as final research reports from previously funded projects.
Apply at endowment.org and submit all supporting documents by June 1st.
