Research Bulletin - March 2019 (Issue 37)

Facilitating the development of new collaborative partnerships and supporting new, and early, career researchers is the aim of the Scottish Seedcorn Fund for Neurological Research announced this week. Funded by Chief Scientist Office and RS MacDonald Charitable Trust, the ‘seedcorn grants’, will enable researchers to test innovative ideas related to neurodegenerative or neurodevelopmental conditions. Joint NES/CSO Postdoctoral Clinical Lectureships are also open until 30 April providing protected time for medical doctors who have completed a research degree (PhD) and are currently working towards the completion of speciality training.

Important information has also been released from the Four Nations NHS/HSC Compatibility Programme. It is confirmed that a UK Local Information Pack will be introduced on the 5 June 2019. From this date an Organisation Information Document will replace the current Statement of Activities used in England and Wales and the Site Specific Information form, used in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The Organisational Information Document will be required as part of the UK Local Information Pack for commercial and non-commercial research. The Organisational Information Document template will be made available from end April 2019.

In other news, Professor Crossman will highlight Scotland's precision medicine strengths at the FutureScot Digital Health and Care Conference, Precision Panc reaches 100 patient milestone, the largest ever study of anxiety and depression opens in Scotland and NRS Mental Health bid farewell to Professor Steven Lawrie after ten years leading the network.

Enjoy reading and as always your ideas, feedback and contributions are welcome.
