Balance for Better: What Role Will You Play? Special Edition: International Women's Day 2019
"Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters." -- Margaret Wheatley
Building a gender-balanced organization isn't a women's issue. It's a business issue. And each of us plays a vital role in driving change -- women AND men.
As you celebrate International Women's Day, consider your role in accelerating gender balance in your organization. As a leader, what legacy do you want to leave? How will you harness interest and momentum? How will you continue the conversation long past March 8?
For the past seven years, it has been my privilege to work with a variety of companies and organizations to bring #BalanceforBetter to the workplace. I believe in starting conversations about gender to help transform organizations into places where each individual can contribute to organizational goals and be recognized equitably. With that goal in mind, I started the monthly newsletter, Gender Conversation QuickStarters, designed to be a Staff Meeting in a Box.
Numerous former clients have shared that they use the articles, podcasts, videos and suggested questions for staff meetings, larger ERG programs and panel discussions. You can use this free tool, too.
Here are the three most popular newsletters from the past year. Consider using them as follow-up programs to enhance your IWD 2019 events:
To create engaged and inclusive workplaces, we need more action. Action will come as a result of conversations about gender, sexual orientation, background, age and abilities. Let's make those conversations happen in 2019.

P.S.: My materials are available to you to share, re-purpose and re-post, including those on the YWomen website. I encourage you to share this email with your network, your ERG sponsor and programming chair and to invite the person curating your newsletter, intranet or women's leadership portal to sign up!
My favorite takeaway or comment from an attendee was, “I was rather skeptical when I saw you invited a white male to keynote a women’s event, but now I know why!”
