2,600 High School Students, 165 Colleges Gather for 11th Annual Noble College Fair

CHICAGO, IL – Today, over 165 admissions representatives from colleges across the country traveled to the UIC Pavilion to participate in the Noble Network of Charter School’s 11th annual college fair. This year, the fair hosted over 2,600 juniors from Noble's 17 public charter high schools. This event commences the college selection and application process for students in Noble’s junior class.

Select students had the opportunity to visit the “Honors Concourse” that featured Ivy League colleges and universities, and the “Chicago Concourse” also hosted select private and public universities in the Chicagoland area, such as University of Chicago and Northwestern University.

"I've visited different colleges before, but this is my first time going to a college event like this," said Maya Enciso, a junior at Mansueto High School. "I was very overwhelmed by seeing all of the different opportunities that you are able to see with the colleges. But sort of fascinated because these colleges are able to provide so many scholarships, financial aid, and so much help with what I want to major in," said Enciso.

Noble’s curriculum has a large focus on not only getting students into college but providing them with the skills that they need to be successful. A large number of Noble’s student population has been from historically underserved communities, and providing opportunities for college will not only uplift these communities, but empower the students to believe that college is an option for them.  Each year, Noble provides students with a full college prep curriculum starting on day one during their freshman year and concludes their senior year with almost every Noble senior receiving an acceptance into an undergraduate program.

"The college fair is very informative," explained Christopher Lopez, a junior at Chicago Bulls College Prep. "I got a lot information from the school representatives that I met today."

“This is our 11th year putting on this college fair and each year we are excited to see the thousands of students pour into the UIC Pavilion in search of their future college,” said Eric Rapp, Noble's Director of College Partnerships. "For some students college is only a dream and we hope that exposing our scholars to colleges from across the nation not only deepens their understanding of what’s out there, but also uncovers their own values so they feel more confident in developing a college list that's right for them.”

Over 97 percent of Noble graduates are accepted into four-year colleges. This year, Noble’s Class of 2019 submitted 25,069 college applications and received over 11,531 acceptances.
