SIX SELF-NURTURING TIPS FOR EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
|
|
Ayurveda considers emotional wellbeing just as important as dietary and lifestyle choices. If we are not discerning about what we expose ourselves to, it can profoundly affect our nervous system. This includes our relationships, the people we spend time with, violent TV shows, seeing and hearing distressing events, the books we read etc.
Tune in and become aware of the effects on your being when you are exposed to unhealthy or negative situations or people and resolve to change by creating a pure mind and recognising emotions that are not healthy, like anger, jealousy & desire.
Meditation creates the space for more healthy emotions, like loving kindness, compassion & generosity. One way is to create a positive daily routine considering the following points;
- Wake up early and allow yourself time for stillness and reflection. Meditate if you can, even for a short time, to gather your thoughts.
- Start your day with a positive mindset which will set the right tone for the day. These positive intentions will help guide your actions and provide tools for better decision making throughout the day.
- Tell yourself that each day is filled with new opportunities and great things can be accomplished if we set our mind to it. These positive words or mantras will make our day more meaningful.
- Before connecting to phones, internet, facebook etc give yourself time to connect with yourself. Read something positive and uplifting from an inspirational book.
- Be grateful - the more you are thankful for what you have, the more you attract things to be thankful for.
- Practise kindness and compassion to all beings.
