~ Update on Congolese Refugee Family ~

The Temple Israel community and allies provided the move-in-ready family supplies for a family of 5 Congolese refugees -  with three weeks notice! The out-pouring of generosity was so heartfelt and beautiful. New and lovingly used and donated goods poured in. Transport and set up went fairly smoothly ( a few bumps) and the families were really touched and grateful.

From Sara Bedford of Jewish Family Service: "They came into an apartment that had a welcoming, finished, and set up living room and bedroom for the family to use. The carpet person came yesterday and carpeted the rooms so they’re now all set in their spacious three bedroom apartment and enjoying all the items your community collected for them! They’ve taken their first trip to the grocery store and the bank and when I left them last night, some Congolese community members had come by to say hello. Their neighbors upstairs are also now settled in – our high school volunteers came back yesterday to get everything ready for them.
I wanted to thank you again for all your effort to mobilize within a short period of time."

We may work with them again, so stay tuned for an opportunity to be part of this mitzvah.

Thank you all
Rabbi Andrea
