Die "SALONS" sind regelmässige Treffen, um sich über bestimmte kulturelle Unterschiede in Aspekten der Kunstgeschichte auszutauschen. Mit jeweils einem oder mehreren beispielhaften Werken präsentieren wir uns gegenseitig künstlerische Arbeiten zu einem Thema. Dieses Format bietet eine Plattform, um Positionen westlicher und nicht westlicher Kunst zu recherchieren und diskutieren.

SALON INTERVENTION bespricht verschiedene Beispiele von Künstlergruppen und künstlerischen Aktionen im öffentlichen Raum. Die Künstler*innen von HIER&JETZT: Connections laden die interessierte Öffentlichkeit ein am Diskurs teilzuhaben.

Ein Beschwerdechor ist ein gemischter Laien-Chor, der es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, alltägliche Beschwerden und Mühsale auf musikalische Art und Weise gesanglich zu präsentieren. Ärgerliche Begebenheiten werden kurz und prägnant zu Papier gebracht und in gemeinsamer Arbeit an Arrangement und Vertonung in Liedgut umgemünzt. Durch diese kunstvolle Art des Lamentierens und der gemeinsam erlebten Beschäftigung mit den selbst formulierten Unbilden des Lebens wird auf gleichsam fröhliche wie pseudo-therapeutische Art ein Missstand verarbeitet.

Die künstlerische Arbeit von Catriona Shaw umfasst Zeichnungen, Performance, Musik und Hörspiel - dabei verbindet sie ihre künstlerischen Erkundungen zu Popkultur und Alltag, und arbeitet oft kollaborativ. In 2009 gründete sie mit Malve Lippmann zusammen das gooeyTEAM und entwickelte performative Installationen im kulturellen Bildungsbereich. Mit ihrem Projekt „Kombiticket“ war sie von 2010-12 nGbK-Stipendiatin für künstlerische Kunstvermittlung.

Catriona Shaw war Dirigentin und Komponistin für zahlreichen Beschwerdechors in verschiedenen Städte, in Berlin dirigierte sie den Beschwerdechor für die 5. Berlin Biennale.

SALON INTERVENTION presents different examples of artists groups and artistic interventions in public space. The artists of HIER&JETZT: Connections invite the interested public to take part in the discussion.

Complaints Choir is a community art project that invites people to sing about their complaints in a choir together with fellow complainers. The name 'Complaints Choir' is a literal translation of the long-established Finnish expression valituskuoro; English language has the expression "a chorus of complaints". As complaining is a universal phenomenon the project could be organized in any city around the world. Complaints are collected on paper and through musical arrangement translated to a song. By this artistic way of „lamentation“ and the collective experience, complaints about specific topics are expressed in a funny and somehow pseudo-therapeutic way.

The artistic work of Catriona Shaw evolves around Drawings, performance, Music, Audiology and collaborative practices. As her main starting point, Shaw's drawings connects her different creative outputs and makes visible her interest in popular culture, anthropomorphism, absence and social politics. In 2009 together with Malve Lippmann she founded the gooeyTEAM and developed performative installations in cultural educational context. With her project „Kombiticket“ Catriona had the nGbK-fellowship in 2010-12 for art-educational program.

Catriona Shaw aka Miss le Bomb was conductor and composer for a number of Complaints Choirs in Berlin and elsewhere, in particular at the Berlin Biennale 5.
