Family Summer Fun In Lowry

We know that it's only mid-March, and there was an actual blizzard last week, but that's just springtime in Colorado! It's time to get Lowry's fun summer events on the calendar.

We kick the summer off the weekend of Friday, May 31st thru Sunday, June 2nd with our Lowry Community Yard Sale.  Stay tuned for more details about how to add your sale to the Lowry Yard Sale Map.

On Friday, June 14, the LCMA will host a Concert and Movie Night in Sunset Park. Starting at 5:30, we'll have music by That 80's Band--back (by popular demand!). There will be kid's activities, a food truck for an easy dinner, and Rocket Ice Cream will have a pop-up shop selling their most delicious flavors for dessert. After the sun sets, we’ll watch the new release, Mary Poppins Returns.

Friday, August 9 is National Night Out, Concert and Move Night in Sunset Park where we will welcome our first responders from District 3 Denver Police and the Denver Fire Department to join our community for an evening of fun! We’ll celebrate with a food truck and a concessions stand run by the Lowry Foundation, kids’ activities, and live music provided by Mr. Majestyk’s 8-Track Revival, a 70’s tribute band. When the sun goes down, we’ll screen Incredibles 2.

Happy Spring, Lowry!  Before you know it, it will be time to dig out your lawn chairs and picnic blankets...

Air and Space Summer Camps

We have an amazing opportunity for kids right here in the neighborhood--registration is now open for Air & Space Camps at Wings Over the Rockies! This year, the museum is offering different themed camps at both of their locations.

From constructing a Mars habitat during Living on Mars to building models and studying astronomy during Deep Space Adventures, the summer will be chock-full of incredible new camp experiences.

Camps are designed for students 8-12 years old and are one week in length; this allows for each camper to become interested and invested in the aerospace-themed activities of the week and build relationships with camp peers and counselors. Camps cost $299 per person per week, and run weekly through the summer starting Tuesday, May 28th. Normal activity hours are from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM with pick-up and drop off times as early as 7:00 AM or as late as 6:00 PM. Before and after care is now $20 per student for the entire week.

Wings' members and returning campers receive 10% off while signing up siblings will give you $45 off regular price.
Have questions? Contact summer camp coordinator Carissa Kepner by email at CKepner@WingsMuseum.org or by phone at 303.360.5360 ext 125.

Cleaning Up After Dogs

Lowry loves its canine companions and green space, so let's take care of them both! There are dog waste stations at every park in Lowry; please use them or bring your own bags on walks to keep our parks and green spaces clean and healthy. It's also city ordinance - owners must clean up after their pets or they may be fined ($150 first fine, $250 second fine, $500 third fine).

Spring Tree Maintenance
Spring is an ideal time for trimming your trees. Per Denver city ordinance *and* LCMA rules, there must be eight feet of clearance between tree branches and the sidewalk or street.  Also, dead and damaged branches should be removed.
The Lowry Past & Present Home Tour
Lowry's 25th Silver Anniversary is this year! One of the many fun events planned is a Past & Present Home Tour. If you live in Lowry and would like your home to be featured on the tour, planned for October 6, let us know! We want to include historic repurposed buildings and homes as well as new construction of note. We are also seeking members for a monthly Steering Committee to help organize the tour. Please email Mary Carr if you think your home should be featured, or if you would like to join the committee.
