Bake Your Best!

Dear Bread Lover

I've had such a great month! First I appeared (if that's the right word) on the At the Sauce Podcast, and most importantly have been appointed as one of 21 Real Bread Campaign Ambassadors!

If you've not signed up for the Easter Baking class, don't delay! Or perhaps you'd like to take the Introduction to Baking class? Do get in touch if you have any questions.

Meet the new 21 Ambassadors for the Real Bread Campaign

I am absolutely delighted to be one of the 21 world wide ambassadors.

Twenty one of the nominees were selected, giving a glimpse at the diversity of the people (and their work with Real Bread) in the Campaign’s network. Based in England, Scotland, Wales, Mexico, Malaysia and Romania, the 12 women and 9 men range from a 14 year old microbaker, to one who recently moved her bakery out of a shipping container in her garden to the local high street.

We've agreed to:

  • Be a vocal champion for the Campaign and the rise of Real Bread in general
  • Speak, write or broadcast in support of the Campaign (though not necessarily all of these)
  • Inspire more people to bake Real Bread at home
  • Encourage more people to join the Campaign
  • Be involved in other activity to support the Campaign coordinator
It's going to be exciting! Read more about the ambassadors

At the Sauce Podcast

Alex and Karis asked me to take part in a trial run for their podcast a year ago. It didn't quite run smoothly, but now they have more than 15 fabulous episodes under their belts.

A year on they came back record the interview again. I am not at all sure I said the same as the first time, but it was such an enjoyable conversation. I still think it's very odd to hear myself "on the radio"

Do subscribe to the Podcast there are so many interesting people to meet. Here's my episode.
Danielle teaching a class
Before I went to train in France, I went to Normandy for two weeks and worked at Boulangerie Les Copains. Here's a great post written by MC on the Farine blog. I don't think I'll ever forget making huge 25 kilo batches of bread by hand!

Dining in style in the 1950s

Some amazing photographs have been unearthed showing the London to Paris night train. The train was loaded onto the ferry! It's fascinating to see what dining was like, the sleeping arrangements and more.

Beer matching at Stroud Brewery

ON THE BLOG

Locals will know about Stroud Brewery. It produces organic and vegan beer. I had the chance to visit their new premises and take part in a fascinating tasting session: cheese and beer are definitely not the perfect pairing. Read more
