April Open House

We had another great open house last week, with several likely families joining us to learn more about PVCP's distinctive education. There's only one more chance to invite your friends and family to join us at an open house this year: April 29 at 6 p.m. The campus will be abuzz with several activities that night including the 3rd grade wax museum, 4th grade Arizona projects, 5th grade world expo, and the school-wide arts festival. This is a great chance to see PVCP in action, so please consider who you can invite this evening to learn more about PVCP.

Family Referral Tuition Credit

As a small token of our appreciation for your efforts in recruiting new families to PVCP, the Tuition Recruitment Incentive Program, or TRIP, offers current families a $500 tuition credit for each family they recruit to PVCP.
  • There is no limit to the number of families you can recruit or the number of tuition credits you can receive!
  • The recruited and recruiting families must complete the academic year or tuition credit will be prorated through the withdrawal month.
  • 50% of the credit will be applied to your account in December and the remaining 50% in April.

Field Day 2019

Calling all warriors! It's that time of year again: FIELD DAY 2019! Field Day is Friday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We need approximately 50 volunteers to make this event a success. Can you volunteer in the following areas?

  • 10 dads for set up from 7 to 8 a.m.
  • 10 dads for tear down from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • 16 volunteers for each shift. First shift: 1st - 4th grades from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Second shift: 5th - 8th grade from 12 to 2:30 p.m.

Please contact Dorina Wilson at 480-580-9078 or dwilson@pvcp.org ASAP to sign up. This fun event for students would not be possible without your generous support! Snacks will be sold at the event.

Once Upon a Mattress Jr.

Middle school and upper school performing arts students are presenting the story of the Princess and the Pea. Long ago in a small kingdom ruled by a talkative queen and a mute king, a test was given to see who would be the true princess worthy enough to marry the prince. Many princesses were tested - 12 to be exact - and yet each was found unsuitable for the prince. What will make Princess Winifred different? Will she pass the test given to her? Come and find out!

Tickets are $10 prior to show; you can buy a ticket from any performing arts student and $15 at the door. There will be four performances in the Fraley Center (school gym):

April 3 at 1 p.m.
April 5 at 6 p.m.
April 6 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Upper School Wonderland Prom

All Upper School students are invited to attend the Wonderland Prom, an elegant twist on the tale of Alice in Wonderland, on Saturday, April 13, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Pomelo Restaurant. Festivities include a delicious dinner, music from a professional DJ, photo booth, gelato, and memories to last a lifetime! Tickets are on sale at the front office for $45 per person (cash or check). Tickets are $55 if purchased at the door. Learn more here. For questions, please email Shelley Jacoby at thejacobys@me.com.

 Hot Lunch Orders

Reminder: please ensure that your hot lunch orders are in your shopping cart and paid for by the cutoff date, which is the 15th of each month. Ordering dates are the 1st through the 15th of the month prior to the lunch delivery dates. Unpaid lunches after the 15th will not be ordered. Lunch orders for May must be placed by April 15. Thank you for your cooperation.

Jamba Juice

The manager of Jamba Juice apologized to us in that she read the date of our school's Spring Break incorrectly, thus not delivering to us on March 21. We have only four more Jamba Juice days left in the school year. April 4, 18, May 2, and 16. The cost is still only $4. Proceeds benefit the Middle School Student Council.

Italy Trip Fundraisers: Car Wash, Clothing Drive, and Rent-a-Student

The final Italy trip car wash will be held at PVCP on Saturday, April 27, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated! Please contact Lynn Nixon at 602-361-4456 or lynix118@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The team will also be holding a clothing drive. Please drop off used clothing and small household items April 15 through April 18 at morning drop off in front of the office. Students will be on-hand to assist you in unloading your car. We will be paid per pound of items collected, and all items will all go to Sunshine Acres Children's Home. All items must be in bags. Contact Kim Good if you have any questions at 602-708-3967.

The students have also set up a "Rent-a-Student" program in which families can hire an upper school student to assist in any capacity such as yard work, babysitting, packing, moving, cleaning, pet walking, dog waste pick up, etc. To rent a student, e-mail Lynn Nixon at lynix118@gmail.com. Please note, there is no fixed cost for renting a student; fees are based on your desired donation.

Sports Updates

PVCP's athletes and teams have many notable accomplishments as we are in the middle of our 2019 spring season.  Congratulations to coach Luke Mays and the co-ed soccer team as they are first in their division with a 4 and 1 record for the season. Coach Chris Seyler and Coach Nathan Seyler have led our upper school girls track team to two second place team finishes in the two previous track meets. There were also several men and women athletes on our track team with 1st through 3rd place finishes. Our middle school boys basketball team, coached by Nick Andersen, are 3 and 2 for the season. Please continue to support our athletes throughout the remainder of the season. Go Panthers! See the athletic calendar for game and track meet details.

Simple and Effective Ways to Support PVCP

Fry's Community Rewards: Did you know you can support PVCP every time you shop at Fry's? Simply link your card to PVCP's account. Learn more by clicking here. Remember, you must link your card every year.

Amazon Members: Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice. Please consider choosing PVCP when designating your donation recipient.  AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. Support your charitable organization by starting your shopping at  smile.amazon.com  Follow this link for details.

Tax Credit Contribution: As the April 15 tax deadline approaches, consider making a contribution to an STO designating PVCP or a specific student as the recipient. Contributing to these organizations not only gives you a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when making your State of Arizona filing, but it allows PVCP to assist families with their tuition who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend a Christian school. Call Anna Tracy in the PVCP business office at 602-992-8140 ext. 2241 for more information.

PVCP Business Office Reminders

All tuition payments are due the first of the month. A late fee of $35 will be assessed on the sixth of the month. It is imperative that we receive timely payments in order to meet our monthly obligations.

The office will accept cash or check in person, but card payments can be made through the parent portal. Please review your online options; fees for an ACH payment are $5, fees for credit card payments are calculated on a percentage of the payment. The ACH option may be more economical for some. If you have any questions, please see Angie Lucas in the Business Office or email her at alucas@pvcp.org.

Rental/Vacation Home

Do you have friends or family coming into town this spring for graduation? This short or long-term rental close to campus would be a great option! The rental is in a great location and is a short drive to downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is fully furnished. For more details contact Lynn Nixon at 602-361-4456 or lynix1@cox.net.
